well, i keep up on the maintenance religiously.. but i RAPE my car on a daily basis... drive the twisties spiritly on a daily basis, take it in the dirt, cross rivers, through mud.... i enjoy EVERYTHING my car can do... its a dam rallycar... tires/brake pads last no longer than the oil changes. and she still purs like the day i got her

 

i bought this car for 3 reasons.

1. the reliability of a new car. (purchased 2/06)
2. the safety and handling of AWD.
3. the speed of a turbo car.

i did not buy the car to race, modify, or be an attention *****. i just like japanese performance cars. i do drive fast sometimes(100+) but do not beat on the car. i was the only evo in town for a while, but now see 9s all over the place. they all have the sameass mods done to them. they are practically clone cars. if someone were to buy one and personalize it for them, good for them. i either give a thumbs up or laugh in their face. not everyone will be boosting from light to light, but it happens. ALL performance cars have that douche in their scene. just be safe young'uns!

 

I'm definitely not tired of hearing about evo's being driven hard, because that's what they're for. However, I'm absolutely sick of hearing about you little kids posting your totaled Evo's because your doing insane things on public roads. Take a driving class, and better yet, save it for the track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Evo keeps getting older, and the insurance is not going down, it's going up, and it's because of you irresponsible drivers totaling your cars.

Can you tell I'm a little mad about it?

i dont see how a young kid that puts a bov on his stock evo effects you in anyway. and what makes it better are all these people wasting time wirting paragraphs about it. the reason they do this stuff to their cars is to get noticed, and guess what your fulfilling their goals...

 

I beat the **** out of my car. Do doughnuts, launch almost every day. Havent washed the car in over 7 months. Back seat is littered with empty soda cans. But I enjoy her and keep her motor serviced very well. I hate people that dont drive the car. Its a car for christ sake... enjoy the thing.

 

Those of us that have been here from the begining have a right to complain about all the new owners buying used cars and destroying them.

My car came off the show room floor brand new in July 2004......I am willing to bet I have MORE POWER than 95% of everyone in this thread.....and I have NEVER been pulled over or had a ticket in my car....

and yet............im paying stupid high insurance on this car because of everyone around me. I think I have earned the right to be unhappy with all these cars being destroyed, crashed, totaled, blah, blah, blah.........all due to a lack of understanding and respect for the car.

i think what you said is well put.....ppl really need to take consideration in this unique rare cars. Its a beautiful machine and anybody just buying it for the "pshuuu" sound when you shift shouldnt be near this machine.

dont get me wrong, i am only 19 but i do make my $600 dollar payment every month and my car is garaged every night and washed and waxed once a week.

my car has ben in 5 car shows from may-august and finshed 1st in 3 of them and 3rd in 1.

i love the car and im more into it then any other person under the age of 20 i beleieve.

my gf gets on me when i pick her up in my 1990 honda civic becuase its raining out or there is a "chance" of snow.


grow up people if your going to have an evo for christ sakes be mature and take care of it!!

 

Im probably the only guy who owns an evo around where i live, or atleast that i know of. I can understand and I agree with what your saying, just because your evo gives you that "badass" image does not mean you need to torture the poor car, but then again if your paying for it go ahead, you'll regret it in the need. Im part of the "young" group that everyone refers to, but I pay for my own car and take care of my car like its my first child. I dont beat on the evo because i plan on keeping it for a long time

Who gives a ****, you people act like the Evo is a Porsche 911 turbo or something. The fact of the matter is, its a cheaply manufactured jap wagon. Wreck it and buy a new one just like it.

 

Last time I checked, mine wasn't a wagon, and neither were the several thousand others in the country. Oh, and whenever you wreck one, you just made already crappy insurance rates for the car go up even more.

 

I can agree with that one, the only nice thing to come out of people wrecking these cars is the cheap oem parts from part-out threads lol. My insurance is through the roof though (my insurance payment is almost the same as my car payment), and I'm 30 years old with a spotless driving record...something doesn't add up. It's almost cheaper for me to insure a brand new Corvette than this car.

I see both sides of the coin in this thread, I can respect that. Just keep it safe everyone, and watch out for the other idiots on the road. That way maybe we can all keep our Evo's for many long years of enjoyment.
