That's what a lot of people who say that it doesn't matter what other people do with their Evos fail to realize... it makes our rates get worse and worse. If you recall, when both the Evo VIII and STi were first released, the STi was actually a little more expensive to insure, probably because of its higher factory hp rating. I've said this time and time again, but I work in insurance, and sometimes for fun, I'll look at how my Evo rates compare to rates for other cars. A brand new $60k 414 hp M3 is cheaper to insure than an Evo, along with a host of other high-powered cars. It sucks.

Lol how true it is, I looked at the insurance rate for me for a brand new M5, and it was only a hair more than what I'm paying now. Truly sad.

What really puts things into perspective is this: Not only do I own and insure my Evo, but I also have an '04 WRX, 89 Civic Hatch, '97 Subaru Legacy, and a '01 Ford F150. The insurance for full coverage on all of the cars combined other than my Evo is still less than what I pay for the Evo itself.

Sorry if this thread offends some, but it's something that's been grating on my nerves that I had to get off my chest.
this is a machine for whom ever want to own one, we live in a free country. if someone beats and doesn't take care of it they'll feel the karma down the road. I don't street race, draeg race, road race, hpde, and most likely won't. I bought this car because I've always wanted one, but mostly for the reason that when i'm driving down the road i'm in control of the vehicle. When i want it to do something, it does, without hesitation.I feel far more safer driving this car in these minnesnowta winters than anything including suv's and trucks. This car makes you pay more attention to the road and your surroundings. It's price had nothing to do with who they aimed it at, but for what it is and that is a great all-around car.(minus luxury of course). I don't get why some evo owners think these cars should just be owned by people who race and mod. My 55 year old mom loves it, she would love it more if i had MR suspension though.

I just ran a basic quote for So Cal... 25 years old, clean record, bodily injury of 100/300, property damage of 50, uninsured motorist of 50/100, and $500 deductibles for comp and collision:

2006 Evo IX: $1716
2009 BMW 135i: $1172
2009 BMW M3: $1454
2009 BMW M5: $1640

Sucks, huh? Thanks to all the idiots who drive their cars the way they want to and plow into other cars or accumulate tickets out the anus.

Amen brother, that's the main reason I got this car for where I live in Pennsylvania. To me it comes off as a archaic beast, very brutish and harsh, but a very basic no-frills power monster when I want. That's what attracted me to this car, it's all business.

That's really really sad. What's even worse is I pay roughly 3 times the amount you have listed for my '03 Evo where I live. So is the 234 pages of the "wrecked my Evo" thread.

Oddly enough my insurance costs dropped when I added all the other cars on to the same policy as my Evo.

FYI, the STI is definitely cheaper, regardless of year, given the fact that all other factors are equal. This also applies to the '08s as well.

Evos are not expensive cars, u could buy a fully loaded Camry or Maxima for the same price. I hate when ppl say u drive a $30k u shouldn't put Ebay parts on it. If a certain Ebay part works why not? As far as ppl beating on them what does it matter to us, its there car/money who cares. We drive a car with a big wing and Evos look similar to a regular Lancer. What do u think a Evo looks like to ppl who don't know about cars "rice". But I could give a shi t because I know why I bought my Evo and it wasn't for eye candy.

"was a bit cheeper but"

For someone with a 3.9 GPA I would expect you to know how to spell CHEAPER.

I'm part of the young crew too, just wanted to point that out.

I'm not sure where you guys are getting your insurance from. I'm 25 and pay around $80 a month for full coverage w/ 500 deductable.

I don't like seeing Evo's beaten on, but at the same time, I realize that they're the ones making the payments so they can do as they please.

Keep in mind that the rate that I had posted up was for California (generally more than most other states, if not all) and with pretty solid liability limits, which definitely play a role in price.

However, I also pay around that much (less than $82/month) for full coverage with $500 deductibles and bodily injury of 300/500, property damage of 100, and uninsured motorist bodily injury of 100/300.

I pay about the same with almost the same numbers as DeeezNuuuts83. As for everyone else with an Evo, i don't mind, the rarer this car gets, the higher the prive will go eventually.
