So what exactly voids the warranty?
It certainly depends on the dealership, what is done to the car and your attitude when u get there.
After I bought mine I had full 3"BR TBE with test pipe, intake and MBC. Had to take the car in for a 'SRS' light on the dash.
After they took the car in, service manager asked what happened to the factory exhaust. I said, respectfully what does that have to do with the SRS code? The tech said he noticed the car sounded different from stock so, he looked underneath the car and saw the changes. He is obligated to report such changes to his supervisor..........those were her words. She said you have to be carefull what you modify on the car, because they can 'tag' your VIN in their system and your car will be considered a race car. This allows them to deny certain or all warranty claims regardless of which dealership you go to.
I got the problem with the code fixed at no charge. The dealership has since been bought out and I recently had to go in again for a 'CLEARCOAT ON THE WING' problem. First thing this new guy said was "You have to leave your car here so we can go over it to see what mods you have on the car before we can do any warranty work". Bull****, long story short, I spoke with the Mitsu rep and had a brand new wing painted and installed without leaving my car overnight. Brought it in and waited for it, watched them through the window to see everything done.
Sorry to seemingly highjack your thread, just wanted to relay my story and to say again, not ALL warranty claims will be denied.
Good luck.

Its really up to the discretion of the dealership. But assuming the claim is over a certain amount then it goes to the factory rep. Thats when you know your in trouble.

I got a pretty much stock 9, just has a catback. I dont want to do too much to it right now, just a turbo timer and boost gauge to start with. Car still has a lot left on the warranty and I dont want to really lose that. Will the catback void it? Or a turbo timer? Probably depends on the dealership but I'm wondering what people got away with when they took their car in.

Basically, you can only put an Exhaust, Timer, and that is about it, everything else will void it. I have herd some Works stuff will not void it since they are the Mitsu Tunner, but not sure.
this has been discussed over and over and over again. If you are worried about voiding your warranty then don't mod your car. If you go into a dealer with a completely stock car for warranty work, it is really unlikely that they could deny you, and if they do then take it to another dealer. There is no such thing as an all-encompassing void for your warranty, and something you do that one dealership will void it over won't necessarily get it voided at another dealership. Oh, and no dealer will warranty clutch, brakes, tires, etc because they are considered "wear" items, and can wear out and need replacement within a day of improper use!
