The DSM/EVO Shootout, the community and Buschur Racing
So, I met you and Shep and Rau several times in Colorado and other places when I was cutting my DSM teeth with my GSX. You speak of passion in your post which is a feeling I try to convey to people now a days when they talk about the DSM days of old. In my opinion, there are Evo guys, and that's great and all, but there were those of us who were getting laughed at in 92' when we pulled up to the starting line and then the demeanor changed after we got our ticket and got back in the staging lanes.
I am a nobody, much like the thousands of old time DSM hands that speckle the nation that didn't open a shop. I have 2 DSM's now and an Evo. I already have plans for my next DSM which is to get back into my original DSM again. I currently own no BR parts. Which I'll explain below.
I'm not sure what the beef with any of these people is, don't really care. I have issue with some people, people who come into my town, egging young kids into a street race, while filming it, and then pull into gas stations and call them pussies when they won't race them. I want to see that sponsored car back in town so I can point out some vital statistics about street racing and teenagers to him.
Unfortunately for you Dave, the same retard is cupping your bag the whole time in the video, which, at the very least, gives the impression that the both of you are in cahoots. If this isn't so, then I can release my ill will towards you and once again reconsider buying anything from you, which I swore off doing once I saw the antics of this jacktard and how he did nothing but lollipop your bag the whole video.
As far as the Shootout, you are in Ohio. If I can make it, I will go. I can beat Subaru's all day here at SAR with rare exception so I'd rather be there. Plus my old DSM hand buddy lives in Yellow springs. You've met him too, but you wouldn't remember and I wouldn't expect you to.
They always say you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and you are judged by the company you keep. I am able to let that first part slide given that the second part doesn't fall under the category of unacceptable.
Oh, and Al. When you total your car here in San Antonio on the 410 access road, street racing some 17 year old with too few years behind the wheel to know better, don't be surprised if the trauma team at UTSA forgets the pain killers. No one ever died of "Pain" before.

A few points. I am not a street racer. My customers in San Antonio are street racers and while I was there to tune several of their vehicles I wanted to capture some of the street secne down there for those who may be interested in such activities. This was especially the case with a 1,100 whp Viper in the mix. It was a great time and I am happy I had the chance to be there.
It is very hard for myself and my customers to contain our joy over Buschur Products when we are watching them perform so well and knowing that all those cars have held together and are still running well to this day. When we say "Buschur Power" it is our of respect and appreciation for the entire Buschur team for delivering a great product.
I am sorry to hear that you foster such ill thoughts regarding my video productions, however, I am pleased to count you a viewer.
Crashing, injury and death are part of the life of owning and driving a ultra high performance vehicle. Those who are not willing to deal with the risk of an accident should not drive fast cars. I am happy to report that I have not had any accidents in any performance cars despite a lot of seat time driving them very fast. A lot of it has to do with knowing when and where to go fast and when to go slow. I am sure that you drive 55 mph every where you go. I'm sure that you do.

TTP, I am listening but I am confused. I do take ownership of the DSM/EVO Shootout name. What is it that you think I should be responsible for exactly?
I agree with you 100% on the fact that I am not the only one that needs work, I just admitted it is all. From where I am sitting, I of course feel I am right on many things that have happened in the past, if I wasn't I wouldn't have done them in the first place. I'd do a few of them over just to save headaches, that's for sure.
I can't think of a single time when I was just nasty to someone for no reason. Maybe the reason was only important to me but it was a reason I justified.
It comes down to respect I guess. Respecting what someone else has to say, respecting someone's test results or whatever.
I don't think a lot of people realize how into these cars I am. I've owned probably 10+ DSM's over the years, built the first Outlaw 4G63, the first Pro Class 4G63, I currently own 4 EVO's. I am INTO THESE FREAKING cars on a personal level, not just business. It is very hard to get bashed/questioned and harrassed by anyone and be expected to not strike back. To me the cars and my business are like my wife and kids. If you mess with them you are going to not like the outcome of my actions and that's how it's been.
Now I have to convince myself that these are only cars, not my family, just a mechanical thing. It's hard when you are very passionate about what you do.
TTP, you know how hard it is to keep cool when someone is bashing you. Personally, I think a vendor who can handle it isn't so much a nice guy or cool or whatever, I think they probably just don't really care, it's about the money and that's it. That's how I feel about it.
Anyways................

.I and we respect you and what you bring and have brought to the community, lets just not forget our roots as consumers and hard core enthusiasts. We've come from times where one would break something in round 3 and without notice, another racer grabs the part off their own car and gives it to racer B to help them achieve their win.
This is what I enjoy doing, I do it for me, not for everyone else and my only competition is myself. Some just don't get it.
No one is getting rich in this business, especially in this economy. If you are looking for riches, find another industry. These aren't even our words, they are verbatim from an industry fortune 500 company.
It just so happens that I get to share some knowledge and experience of 14 years along the way with enthusiastic customers these days which gives us an opportunity to put ourselves in their shoes for a few minutes.

I called you because the Evo I bought had your flash on it. The car ran like funk, straight up no power, no nothing. It was slower then a stock Evo and mine was mildly modded at that time.
I called you to talk about it and you completely blew me off. You wen ton some rant about bad gas, bad parts etc etc. Then you told me it wasn't your tune, but your freakin name is hand written on the casing!!
You were rude, insulting and had no intention on helping me other then for me to drive to where ever you were working at the time, f-that.
I then asked you if you locked the ECU, you said no. At that point in time I was just in the beginning stages of learning ecu flash and you still went on about stupid **** and bad gas. In the 15 years I have been toying with turbo cars, I have never got a bad tank of gas. Out of all the people I know I still don't know anyone who has had a bad tank of gas, yet you seem to get one every time a customer has a part other then Buschur for some reason.
I talked to another tuner and he fixed it up in about 15 minutes and sure as **** he knew how to unlock it.
I still have that tune and it is the bumpiest, jagged looking thing I have ever seen. When I called you, you dismissed me like a good for nothing no one. Did not even give me a chance, and now you never will. Because you tried to play me off as an idiot, I will make sure I try my hardest to steer people away from you, when all you had to do was listen for 2 ****ing minutes.
Is that enough?
First off, JNZ and TurboTrix, the two of you are two of the MAIN shops behind the other event. If you two would like me to cut and paste the nasty side of you onto public forums from NABR I'd be glad to do it. I am trying to keep all of this nice and stay out of your business. You two, along with others have been putting this event together with one nasty purpose for over a year, the purpose is to mess with me and the Shootout. I'd like nothing better than to make a few hundred of your comments public that were on NABR about me/my shop and the Shootout. So, since I am trying to be a better person I have ignored you guys and not posted anything negative. Stay out of this thread and any others I start and we'll get along just fine and I'll keep my posts from NABR to myself. Sound like a fair enough deal?
Listen Mr. Buschur....
1) I don't give two ****s about NABR posts that you have. If I wanted them private I wouldn't have posted them anywhere, much less on a forum that I *KNOW* has a leak or two that runs back and cries to you to gain your favor. I'd like to know what "Secret" information you have that I haven't said right to you.
2) I didn't get involved in this thread and don't have time to play your silly "I'm a good guy today and am changing my ways---oh wait--now I'm back on a tagent" games. I was going to keep my mouth shut and see if you were going to actually "turn over a new leaf" (that lasted what?? All of a day or two?). *YOU* and your little boy Mike brought me into it now.
3) Oh, you're such a saint...you do this for the community. It's all for them. You put up with so much to make it all happen.
Give me a break. This is big business to you. Half of the time you treat it like it's your personal playground and the other you play like it's only for the community. Doesn't work both ways. How many people have you banned from your "event" that's for the community? How many people have stories of you treating them like **** while they were out there lining your pockets? I seem to remember a story from a local guy you "helped out" by selling him $.80 OEM freeze plugs after he popped on for $15 and saying "I should have charged you double". Such a saint you are and how well you speak out of both sides of your mouth when it suits you.
4) 9 second Evo? Nope, you're right, not here. I've also worked closely with a lot of the industry with getting parts into the country that were never supposed to be brought here and created the whole "Mitsubishi OEM Parts" discount that a lot of other people have jumped on the bandwagon with since then. Where were you then Mike? And I seem to remember selling you all of your parts David, before I got tired of dealing with you.
5) I guess I'll have to talk to Jeff/Keith/Mark about putting my name up in lights for the ECSO as I'm now a major sponsor according to you. Maybe you could call them and put in a good word for me? Maybe I'll sponsor the "Banned Ffrom the Buschur Shootout Because I Fell Out of David's Good Graces" class. God knows that there will be a decent amount of those people there.
6) Mike. Don't think I don't know about "John Benza" and certain things sitting at your shop. Scum.
7) Mr. Buschur, after fighting with everyone in the industry for YEARS (Remember when it was "Buschur vs. Extreme" back in the day and people with "Extreme" parts weren't allowed to attend the bonfire??) and now realizing that a LOT of other shops and people in the community cannot stand you, you might want to realize that it's not the world that's bipolar, but possibly you. You've made your bed with a LOT of people (and continue to do so) don't start whining when people finally get smart to your ways.
8) Please **** off and refrain from further dragging me into your posts that I was trying to politely stay out of.
Thank you sir, and continue your rants without me.
I have tried to help in any area I can for whoever I can help. I have an extensive back ground in 12 volt industry with just about anything car related. Look at any of my posts on other forums and even some here that I have not deleted yet.

Why does it not suprise me that this has turned into a pissing match.
seems how everyone wants to be a d!ck torwards Buschur and how he treats people, I will share my experiences with him/his shop.
I first got my car in August of 07, first mods were his intake kit and a Forge BOV. I didnt really feal welcome at the shop on that visit. Kind of fealt rushed out like they were too busy. At the time i thought nick was ok, jarrod was an ***, and dave just didnt care and let nick and jarrod do all the work.
Well over that winter I snapped the timing belt tentioner and belt. Motor stayed intact somehow. i got a TTP 60k miles service kit. service sucked as the shipment was lost before it left them and then it took 4 weeks for the part to get here. Wasnt happy about that.
Well at the time I threw on meth, 35r turbo kit, cams, sprins and retainers and some other little stuff. All this going on the stock ecu.
I then emailed Dave as i knew he was the best person close and in the coutry for that fact as far as making fast cars. Well I got an email back saying he had no desire to tune my car on the stock ecu and he wouldnt do it.
at the time I thought, ok FU dude. i guess your too good to tune it. So I contacted AMS about tuning it and they said no problem. i was about to trailer it 6 hours out to them to have it tuned.
but I went back to my persistent ways and sent Dave another message asking why he wouldnt tune it. this time i got a lenthy message back saying that if I switched to an AEM, he would gladly do it. He never said I had to buy it from him, just use and AEM. He went onto explain the reason he wouldnt tune the stock computer is the meth kit. That the AEM had a much better failsafe in it than the stick ecu and that he wasnt willing to risk the motor if something went wrong. I took it as he didnt want to be responsible and I couldnt blame him one bit.
so i went on the search for a used AEM and found one. got everything installed at home with a couple friends and called him up. We set up a time and i came up.
Things didnt go so well. Dave was sick as a dog, and then my timing belt tensioner let go. here is where my perspectinve on Dave completely changed. when we knew it toasted it, he fealt every bit as bad about it as I did. He cared and that meant alot.
then he didnt another thing I greatly repected. He didnt recomend a build then. He said they could pull the head and fix anthing little that was wrong for probably around $1k. Well I trailered it back home, heart broken as i was hoping for great numbers.
Dave and I exchanged quite a bit of emails/PMs about a build and so forth and I decided I wanted to go all out! Took the car up there and dropped it off. 6 weeks later I got the call it was finished and what the numbers were. my jaw hit the floor.
but again, Dave showed me he cared about his customer more than the car. He talked to my dad on several occasions that he was worried about me with the power the car made. previously my car as a 12 secind at best car. It was now a 9 second capable, 600 hp car. My dad and him exchanged words about how I had to be careful and he also made it clear to me that it was a beast.
Let me tell you, looking back, i am very thankful for all the experience.
Dave and crew may seem like complete asses when you first meet them. Alot of people can. i know alot of people have problems with me because I try to be honest about everything also.
but now that I have gotten to know them and hung out with all the guys. they are the best group of guys there are. they will go out of there way to help their friends and wont sell you parts you dont need. I had AMS tell me I needed $1k worth of parts to make the hp i wanted, Dave told me to get the **** off there and sell it. guess what, Im going for 700 hp and still dont have those parts on my car.
Dave WILL NOT sell you a single part you DONT NEED! And I cant say that about many shops.
I WILL DEFFINATELY BE AT THE SHOOTOUT! Alot of people who have problems with Dave and company need to get to know them more. they deffinately open up the more you get to know them. My experience is one of the best things in my life!
So THANK YOU Buschur, and the Shootout will absolutly be around for many more years!

Dave so nice of you to come out and share your thoughts/feelings and say that you are aware of how your reputation has come to where it is today for better and for worse, it takes a lot of guts and heart to do that, let alone on a forum where thousands can read it!!!!
On a side note, I am disappointed that this came out solely in reference to the fact that you are having to compete with somebody else. You can't expect to be the only person doing something that has profit attached to it and not expect competition. Regardless of your initial intentions, or ideals that caused you to create the shootout, it has turned into something bigger and greater than anybody could have seen coming, and because of that there is room and potential for that to grow, outside of OH.
I am 100% positive that the sole reason another event is being run on the EXACT same day catering to the EXACT same crowd, because there are lots of people that cannot look past your attitude, past practices, and behaviors and simply choose to avoid the trouble of going somewhere to race when they don't feel welcome, wanted, or interested in being there. Sorry, but that part of your first post where you said you were aware that you have made some enemies along with friends over the years has finally come to the surface, and now this is what happens because of it.
Best of luck to both shootouts and the people who attend both. Mike, seriously start conducting yourself in a professional manner or you will be making a post like this down the road. All you vendors that are on here bickering like girls back and forth (some of you are friends and its just you two having fun) really do nothing for your reputation, the community, or your potential customer base.

The Buschur shootout is like spring break all over again, just without the tittays. We almost seen some, but some poor old chap blocked the view of the ( . )( . )
Last year was my first shootout. I had a blast, that little ole town was PACKED, the hotel scene was crazy, and the event was fun. I met a bunch of people from the forum.
Dave, I'm glad you are making an effort to have a better attitude. Can't hurt to try. God knows I come accross as a ahole at times, but I'll give someone the shirt off my back if they need it. I know you would too.
You can start being a better person by giving me that Z06 I'm wanting. <<< inside joke
