It breaks, when folks replace the clutch with a stronger model and then drop it at 7K trying to launch.

Nothing to worry about, if you don't continuously abuse the car.

...it's not a concern unless the TC is already damaged by a previous owner.

Edit: I took a quick look at your other posts. It seems like your Evo is a SE (?) that went through a complete color change, and it was purchased with a staggered wheel setup. At the risk of sounding unsympathetic, all bets are off. I hope you had the car thoroughly checked out by an Evo-specific shop. Good luck.

 

The T case is about a 1000 dollars without install fml these cars are expensive...but you pay to play

 

sorry to hijack this thread but ive also been trying to search ....How much power can a stock tranny handle also???? im not talking about the clutch im talking just the tranny itself.. plz anyone???

a fluid leak from a bad seal can also ruin your t-case, check the level once and while and change the fluid regularly with OEM or greater

They break on Bone stock evos.. if you launch the car be aware it can break.. strongest Tcases have LSD..

i shredded the torque tube in my tcase, lost every gear!! i was freaking at first when my car jumped and then screamed bloody murder

 

Tell me about it...

My exhaust note is so loud it covered up the whine....So im driving along on I-5 and it goes out...luckily i made it to an offramp..

Car had to be drug onto the tow truck....i was freakin out.
