All i will say is there is alot of companies that build 2.4 alot cheaper then that. you have to look around not just because its cheaper does not mean its a junk motor. I paid less then that for mine and had to replace some parts and still did not even come close to cracking 3k

Whats with all the hate on the 2.3? I love my 2.3, and I 474whp and 505ft lbs on Davids Mustang dyno. Thats around 545whp and 580ft lbs on a dyno jet. And thats on a red. And I can rev to 8300rpms.

I think a lot of this 2.4 crap is hype. While I strongly agree stroking is the way to go I realyl dont feel the 2.4 is really superior to the 2.3, maybe it is slightly but most people will never see the difference on the street.

If you're fairly inclined, you can do the research and build your own in the garage for much less. Cheap J/Y block cleaned an inspected by your fav local machine shop. I just use the stock crank, but Im not looking for 600hp...of course your needs may vary. Then all the little bits; it can be built for under 3k.

The talon cost me 2k and has ~15k miles on the build. Running like a champ

haaaaaaaaaaaaaa love this guy dont hate because you bought the wrong motor. Just think you could be making that much more if you went 2.4. Go take alook at blkcarbonevo dyno graph if you are doubting the power the 2.4 has. think it was something like 600whp at 25psi now good supporting parts as well but he is laying it down. Nothing wrong with a 2.3 but you can get those same results cheaper with a 4g64 at the heart of everything.

I'm in stock intake mani stock exaust mani and red. And I seem to have made a lot more torque then you and only a little less whp at less boost Rock. So lets not try and pull cards here .

From an engineering stand point there is no debate, simply put. The stock bore and stroke is very close to square 85mmx88mm. So by design it can turn a higher optimal amount of rpms.

If you throw in a 102mm or greater rod the stresses are going to be higher, you will gain torque down low but the stresses on the engine will be higher further up the rpm band.

This is why you see drag teams "destroke" thier engines (moving towards square) to get some relyability when they are turning 10-12000 rpms. @ 30-40 psi

Basicly the power produced by a small displacement increase is less that being able to turn 2-3000 more rpms relyably. (by relyable I mean getting 10 -15 more passes per season)

Does this matter at the 3-400hp mark? probably not. However alot of pro drag teams think it matters at 800-1200hp.

there's the problem. with my 2.1 im pushing 630whp and my plans for the 2.4 was getting it to the 800s with a bigger turbo(6567) so if what i am reading is wright, i should stick to the 2.1 for the bigger turbo

2.3 is all Evo baby! lol

...plus you get the oil squirters, even though everyone says they don't matter.
