My rattles are there even when I slowly accelerate from a stop, on a perfectly smooth road. If I so much as hit a bump, you'd think the car was falling apart.

only rattle I've had is from the driver's side A-pillar, and it was an easy fix...just had to fix a rattling wire...

sounds like your car has enough serious problems to possibly warrant a look at your state's "lemon laws"....

My car only has 1100 miles on it, and has nine different CONSISTENT rattles. They are there every time I drive my car. I have one by the drivers side window switches, drivers side seat belt, drivers side headliner, beneath steering wheel, glove compartment, center roof by lights, passenger door somewhere, passenger seat belt, and one by the cup holders. Is this normal? It seems like every time I start the car I have a new rattle. The list of problems my car has at 1100 miles is now the following:

clutch pedal vibe
horribly rough idle (can't see out rear view it's so bad)
1st, 2nd, and 5th gear grinds
mild piston slap
noisy tob
steering wheel shake
decel noise and clunk

and to top it all off my car is slower than other stock evos I've driven

Anyway, as far as the rattles, is this normal or was I once again blessed with a problem at 1100 miles thanks to my lemon car, which was probably put together by a disgruntled Japanese worker.
I think you have a bad EVO. My friends evo is perfect and he is a good driver but even he had the grind problem when shifting.

My evo drives like a DREAM. Even my Luxury car friends were impressed that a raced out lancer drove decent.

I do take very good care of my car so that plays a huge factor in it's condition. I am a member of socalevo.net and I am confident every single member who has seen my car in real life can verify this.

I am at 7700 miles.

My states lemon laws require the car to be in the shop for 30 days, or same problem 4 times. I can't possibly meet these parameters because my dealer tells me my car is "within Mitsubishi specs", and refuses to do anything. I am really getting upset and saddened over all these issues. I wish I had never bought the car. I took a hit on my 02 ss to buy this car, and can't afford to take another. I will never buy another Mitsubishi.

I am the most **** person in the world when it comes to maintenance. I have already changed the oil twice. I have 10 coats of zaino on it, and babied it for the first 600 miles. I am so disappointed with this car I don't know what to do.

that's really unfortunate, obviously...have they even tried to fix the rattles?...that should be a non-issue and they shouldn't even raise any resistance to solving those...as far as the rough idle goes, I don't know what to say...it's a 4-cyl but with a balancer, so it really shouldn't be that rough especiually once it's warmed...the grinding I've never experienced, and have only missed one upshift in over 4,500 miles...clutch pedal vibration is nil, but in your case I guess it's expected since the car is idling so rough anyway...

you need to CALMLY but FIRMLY request to speak with the Service Manager, and if he won't help, go over his head, and if that person won't help, get on the telephone to MMUSA...

only other recourse would be to try another dealer or get a lawyer, and that's almost a no-win situation from the get-go...

I'll go back and see if I can get them to address these problems. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I was really afraid I'd end up with a lemon car, but went for the evo anyway foolishly hoping I'd get one of the 99 out of 100 that are normal. If anyone sees Murphy, tell him I owe him a punch in the stomach.

Pursue Lemon Law..

It may mean you have to take it in to the delaership 50 times for the same problem...

But do it.

Your car sounds ****ed up..
Sorry.

I feel your pain. I believe you because my friend had the grind as well so I know exactly how much that sucks. You may have a bad evo. The grind is a warrenty issue so it will cost you nothing.

Do the lemon thing if this crap continues after the dealer fixes it.

There is hope a properly constructed evo drives well.
EVOS DO NOT DRIVE THAT BAD.

Test drive a friends evo!

If you want a quiet car, then I'm sorry but the evo is not for you.

I bought some pirreli tires and they do make the ride a bit softer compared to the stock tires.

the chassis is stiff, rattling is the result becaue the body cannot absorb any impact
