Yeah, I'm just getting used to the minor rattles here and there. Just turn the radio up and they all get drowned out! When you're out canyon carving, you'll remember exactly why you bought this car.

probraly same issue

I don't know if my noise sound the same as yours, but everytime when I turn off the music and turn the A/C on, I hear a little rattling from the engine bay, I can hear from inside of the car, then when i turn off, the noise stops, I guess it's normal probraly from the AC.

This is Mitsu were talking about.

They cut corners in all there cars, Look at the paint on the Evo, A lack of it in certain areas and orange peel in some less noticable areas.

I have to say that I'm rolling in on 10,000 mi and no noises, Ghost in the machine?

Squeaks and rattles are poor design/craftmanship and have nothing to do with the performance of the vehicle.

Perhaps if American car manufacturers picked up on that in the late 80's, they wouldn't be in the hole that they're in now.

If we all "expect" squeaks and rattles in a vehicle such as ours, I'm sure they'll just cut corners and have the same squeaks and rattles in the EVO IX.

I have a few of the same squeaks and rattles in my car. I didn't expect them, and to be quite honest, they're annoying at times. But, I know at this point there's not much that I nor the dealership can do, so I've accepted that as part of the vehicle.

And furthermore, I'm getting a little tired of the "you bought the wrong car" pitch. Seriously, did your Evo come from the factory with your name on it? I guess now that we've bought into a car that isn't 100% perfect and we're pointing out problem areas, we should just give our cars away to someone who may "deserve" it more than ourselves...? Gimme a break.

I dunno. I bought mine because I've wanted one for almost 8 years now. I wouldn't trade it back in for anything.

There are squeaks from the doors and front seat seatbelts. I haven't got them fixed yet but I heard from another Evo driver who had the same problems that it's a common defect and that the dealers will take care of it.

I used to have these squeekz on my 01 honda prelude sh, but havn't gotten anything on the evo yet, however the problem was the lower ball joints for the prelude. Once I got them replaced, the noise was gone and never came back.

I never had that on my 00' prelude, but SH had some serious problems with squeeks.

I'm having some serious squeeking on the right side b column. It's really annoying...

FWIW for the door seal rattles BMW sells a heavy silicone grease they call gummifledge works great. Or you can use mold release silicone grease.

Well, really relieved to see that the squeeking brakes are normal (at very low speed) for high performance pads. I was annoyed with that squeek occassionally so that's a relief.

On the other rattles, I took my Evo into my local dealership in Amarillo, TX and they had the car for three days and said they fixed them. Picked it up...nothing fixed. Took it back. They kept it for over a week. Went to pick it up and they said "Oh, we're still working on it". Picked it up after they "fixed" the two rattles, only to find there was a third (steering column) which was louder and worse than the first two. Took it back, they fixed them "all". Yeah, well at least they did get the steering column rattle fixed...the other two were and still are there.

First one is at highway speeds in the front wheel well/ driver's side door panel. Sounds like a wire slapping in the wind against something.
Second is right up at the base of the winshield in front of the passenger side air bag. This one will be easy to fix 'cause when I shove my hand between the winshield and the dash, it stops...I just need a small block of rubber or something.

Amazing how Mitsu tries to tell you everything is "normal". Yeah, right.

Just found a new one the other day. Well, I've been hearing this squeking noise in the front passenger side of the car, at first I thought it was just the stock suspension on the car, but one time, while it was parked in a garage at 3 in the morning, and I couldn't sleep, I went out with a wet cloth to wipe all the bug off the front of the car. A little pressure on the bumber near the headlight, and it squeaks pretty nasty sounding. Only does it when it's real cold out. If I ever get time to really look into it, a little oil or tightening somewhere should fix it.

I am starting to get sqeaks from my drivers seat. Easy fix for me is to turn up the volume on the radio.

Here's a GREAT idea, how about you guys get some sound bites/audio clips of the noises you are hearing and post them, and the solutions so we can exactly hear what you are trying to describe!!!!!!!!!! I have no clue what some of these sounds are like by some descriptions. Mitsu Stealership said that they will not fix any noises on my car, unless they could reproduce them themselves at the dealership. Well no **** Sherlock the car isn't going to make noise when you don't even drive the thing! My back right Spring makes a lot of noise and sounds like a cheap aftermarket set, when I go over any dropoffs or potholes. I have some suspension work done on my car with a Buschur rear swaybar and a rear strutbar, but those seem to be tightened to spec. Sorry, no soundbites because I am attachment illiterate

FYI.

I brought mine into Mitsu last week for the annoying door screaching and cracking. I use to be able to drown out the sound with the radio, but then it got to be a battle and had to bring it in. Mechanic said there is a TSB for the door weather moldings, its the sound of plastic on plastic. Order both and should be in this week. Also has a TSB for the door handle linkage on the inside of the door, they put in felt lining behind it to stop it from bumping the metal shell of the door. At least they addressed all my issues, the dealer has been great.
