This is a great thread to have and since i'm in the same boat i figured i'd add somethng to all this coming from a highly modded Evo.

I've decided to partially part out my hi-hp parts and sell the low mileage chassis (5,500mi)seperately as the way i see it if the mods were done tastefully and properly removed it will allow the next potential buyer to build the car as he/she prefers with the parts he/she prefers or put it back to stock as he/she sees fit so that way it's not like any "cover-up" returned back to stock to trade it in type of thing!

Also coming from a CA guy it may be harder to sell the highly modded Evo unless it goes out of state.

I think the main thing like all sales done over the forums/internet is an open line of communication on both the seller and buyers end that's why i try my best to provide accurate pics and vids since it is 2014 lol while also answering questions in a timely manner.

Maintaining a good rep as a member and having good experiences with selling things always helps as it is a pretty close knit community.

On that note if anyone is intrested in my 2006 WW IX RS chassis please pm me

I put mine back to stock and now I am trying to sell a bunch of race parts. No one wanted an STU autocross Evo IX. Or wanted to pay more than a stock one...

Modifying a vehicle is just a terrible financial investment, period. Selling what you can off the car will definitely yield the most return.

I would love to have bought an evo that was built, awhile ago there was one on sale, 06 RS with 2200 original miles that was a 9 sec 1/4 mile car for 35k. Mine was 30k with 1900 miles oh well

couldn't agree more with this. Definitely would rather buy a modded car than a once modded and put back to stock car.

Mabye wait for ppl to contact you and ask them if they wanted to do stock. Somebody may like it the way it is and buy it for that reason.

For maximum profit- return to stock and sell off parts.

I would only buy a car stock if it always stock. Because if they return the car back to stock, it was probably tuned to handle those mods.

I see that so much these days, cars that were modded to the edge of the stock block and then taken back to stock to sell for a higher price, claiming that it's always been stock. WEAK.
