De-modding would always put more money in your pockets but would be a bit costly to attain the stock parts if you don't have it. Stock evo's are easier to sell. If your car is modded and also has a dirty title.

So how do you tell if a evo is actually stock or if the previous owner just simply put it back to stock?

There'a a evo 8 with 35k miles on it and is priced at $16,500, and has been up for almost a year. Nobody has bought it yet simply because of the dirty title, crazy. I don't blame them though, that would suck to get that insured

16k is a lot. I'm sure it would move closer to 10k.

Mileage is irrelevant. People simply use it as an indicator of condition. All things equal a car with 30k should be in better shape then one with 130k.

Personaly experience would lead me to believe this is **** poor logic. After all whats better a car with 30k miles that's never had a oil change, or one with 130k and religious upkeep.

Tool marks on fasteners, broken or cracked wire connectors and loom. You can also ask. Some people return cars to stock because they are liars and thieves. They will sing a story of how pampered the car was even though they are selling because the motor is on its last legs.

Others return to stock to recoup losses. They know selling individual parts nets more return. Their is no hidden agenda in this case, just a wise financial move.

Ya it's one thing if you disclose it to the buyer.

It's usually pretty easy to tell if a car has been modified. Like other said damaged wires clips etc. rubbing from IC piping or things bent/moved these are obvious things to look for. Also check bolts/nuts to see if they are factory or replaced.

my car was a salvage title and there seems to be signs of modifications. I feel like an idiot buying the car, but no serious troubles came up.

What if you tried to sell a modified evo that has problems, but for a lowered price?

I think it would be worth while to put back to stock to sell unless you have some mods that can't be undone like caging. Otherwise it's probably better to sell it stockish.

I agree and less hassle for you and the buyer.
