what brand motor oil/filter are you using?
Off topic and commenting on your sig: I used to have a 2008 TR Mazdaspeed3, great dealer service and car overall, but could never own another one after ownership of a Evo. Also, Mazda*********** and MazdasNW throw out the ban-hammer too easily, this forum is FAR superior!
my VIII has 151k miles and has been using OEM Mobil1 10w30 since day1.... without a hickup.
I dont get all these distractors... she runs like new w/ 350whp/350lbs on orig stock block.

So you're trying to say 20w50 is the way to go on all motors? Please make sure that when you post this that you state if its on a stock block (hope not) or a built block with looser than oem clearances.
1) more expensive
2) has inferior filtering properties
3) has poor life expectancy
I get Amsoil cheaper than Mobil1 and for the same price as Valvoline over the counter.
Your arguments and input: failed
as far as oil filters go some do provide better filtration against small (cant see with the naked eye particles), ive had good luck with oem filters, and ill admit i want the best for my car thats why ill also use the mobil 1 filters....give ur baby the best n shell give the best, thats why shes on some bfg tires, and as of today some bilstein hd struts.. but back on track, ur car gets used to oils so best bet dont switch em off every so often stick with one brand, and weight.
i could read tech threads till my eyes bleed but i wanted to hear from the real people.
i got mobile 1 in the car now with a wix napa filter. i thinking about switching to amsoil 20w-50.
the motor is built, stage 1 racing head. the previous owner swear by m1 but with the built bottom shouldnt i be using the 20w50?
