Frustration with Synapse DV flanges

Ive never had so much trouble putting on flanges like I did on this dv.

The flanges feel like they only go so far in, so you get that feeling like your going to crack something..I finally got one flange in and I "thought" I had the second one in, it sets flush but the clamp does not wrap around enough to get the nut on the bolt

Why....any suggestions I dont want to break the thing, but I feel like the flange cant get anymore flush then where its setting at now. Im so close to ditching this dv. what a shame.

I got mine and everything went together smoothly. Are the o-rings causing you issues and binding perhaps? You got the DV (smaller black one) correct? Are you referring to the flanges sliding inside the housing? Take a pic, it will help diagnose this. Alot have this DV with 0 issues, especially no issues flange related.

insert the o-ring into the dv, then spread the clamp a little bit so the flange can go in (meaning take the bolt off so the clamp can widen), then insert the flange, make sure its seated all the way down, then the squeeze the clamp with your index finger and thumb, and the bolt that tightens the clamp should be ready with an allen key so that you can insert it on the clamp and tighten it down...

i will be honest and say that it did put up a fight...but once its on, that sucker will not want to come off easy.

good luck with the rest of your install. lol

That's probably his problem now that you mention it tim, the o-ring should slip over the flange into the groove. I wonder if his o-rings aren't lubed enough because of the constant trying to force it into position so it's just jamming in vs forcing the o-ring to slide up and over into the groove...that or he isn't loosening the clamp enough. (that sounds so naughty)

Yea you have to install the o-ring first then you put the flange in and wrap the clamp around it

The latest flange design has a different installation order from
the previous design. Begin by installing the o-ring in the DV.
Next install the assembly onto the mounting flange. The o-ring is NOT
installed onto the groove of the adapter flange. This new design
eliminates all chances of damaging or cutting the o-ring seal.

Once you have the o-ring in the DV, followed by the flange, you
will push down on the flange to seat the o-ring. This will allow you
to close the clamp and hold the flange in place. Tighten the nut and
bolt to secure the clamp.

Guys im aware of how these flanges are to be installed. The o ring goes in first and you seat the flange in following the o ring..

On of the flange sides went in fairly well with a bit of work, the clamp closed in nicely, but the clamp for the other flange is not closing! it sits flush too

the first picture shows how flush it sits, and the second picture is showing just how far the clamp closes
