I have this same noise on decel in my III. Has only 8k on the trans and transfer cases, but I do have a lightweight flywheel and twin disk clutch. Definitely sounds like backlash in the trans.

I might look into removing my twin disk clutch and going with something a bit more easy to drive. The one I have in here now has about 1/8" from fully disengaged to fully engaged. It's not super fun to drive, but definitely grips like a mother. Once this is swapped out, I will report back if the noise went away.

I didn't notice the sound in mine until after a few days of driving it (after I bought it). It supposedly has an ACT clutch and lightweight flywheel so i fall into the aftermarket clutch/flywheel group. Not the worst sound in the world, but would rather not hear it on decel. Also, mine only rattles in 3rd and 4th gear fwiw.

Mine would rattle on 3rd and 4th as well. I never had a lightweight flywheel just my oem one resurfaced. The comp stage 4 I had was the same with grip, just the worst to drive with. I’m much happier with act heavy duty. Perfect daily clutch for me right now.
