Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
Re: Help, its Deal Time - EVO or STI

I used to only want an EVO becasue I loved its steering and tight handling. I've owned lots of high end sports cars to give you some background on me. I'll provide a link below to some of my past toys. ....
Couple of things helped me chose the Evo:
1/4 mile times are almost identical.
Evo is easier to tune right now.
Handles better - I autocross.
less shifting with 5 gears - again better for autocrossing
a 2003 Evo is at least 4 Grand less.
My insurance company (State Farm) quoted me nearlyly twice as much for insuring the Sti over the Evo = $1,000 more per year - if you keep the car for 5 years = add $5G to your cost!
Food for thought.
PS: the 2004 is offering leather Recaros as an option if you want to upscale the interior.

I Love My Evo!!!
Every time I drive my EVO, I feel great. I have never had so much fun in any car, and I've been driving for 20 years and have owned more than 30 cars - Including two cobras and svt focus a 350whp wrx and a couple old vettes and many more.
I love this ****ing car
I figure most of us love are cars, many of us bought one, but I just had to put it out there because we often only hear bad news.
Evo owners rejoice!

I hear that! I’ve driven lots of cool cars; 928s, Lotus Turbo Esprit, an older Ferrari (328?). All of them were great for one reason or another. The Porsche was smooth as glass. The lotus accelerated like a rocket once the boost was on. The Ferrari was, well, a Ferrari! The only really cool car I ever owned was my Eclipse.
None of them were as cool overall as my Evo. I can’t wait until it warms up outside so I can put the stock tires back on and really get a true impression of how great this car handles. But even in the cold when the tires don’t stick so well I can vouch for how well the car communicates with you near the limit of adhesion. When my ‘78 TransAm would get near the limit around a corner it was hard to judge when it was about to let go, and when it did it was difficult to keep things together. When the Evo’s back end starts to let go it lets you know exactly what to do to keep things under control. I’ve never driven a car that does that so well. I think the 928 was the only one that even came close.
I'm glad you enjoy your Evo as much as the rest of us do.

I Want An Evo
I need someone to help talk me out of getting one.....I regret not buying one to begin with...but everytime i see one i get so jealous....i know there's a reason i bought the ra.....don't get me wrong i love my car......still no RA's around my town, yet I saw two EVO's today, and atleast 2 a day....Anyone who is on here that owns an EVO, what are you paying per month??....did you buy or lease.....i don't want to take a hit on my car (which happens anyway) but the good in the EVO are outweighing my future 600/month payments.....
You sound like you are waayyyy too indecisive to be buying a new car. Not to sound like a jerk, but you bought a new OZ in Oct, traded in for RA in Nov and now just 3 months later want an evo. It sounds like you really just jumped into buying a car, and now you are going to have to decide if you are willing to take the 4-5(maybe 6)k less that the dealer is going to offer you on the trade in for your RA. Just my 2 cents.
I can't say that I am as lucky as some of you with the wheels that you have driven but I was spoiled at a young age when my father brought home an 89 vette with 12k on it. From that day I have been addicted to speed/handling. Every time I walk towards my evo I'm like a little kid in a candy store. I can't get enough of it and I haven't even started modding it yet. Now i'm just another addict.
I had 96 lt1 formula, 96 cobra svt, vr6 jetta, 96 eclipse gst, 95eclipse gst, - Evo is the one that i will keep as long as i live, everytime i punch the gas pedal there is smile on my face...

I will just have to wait and get a new turbo I guess..
xstephenx....yeah, i'm a little indecisive......beginnnig of 03 had a 1998 s-10, modded......bought a 03 Honda Element in February.....OZ in October, RA in November...and now.....AAAAHHHH......the Element I really wanted to get out of, and the day I bought my OZ i found out about the Ralliart, so I had to have....plus the dealership gave me 4K more than what i paid for my OZ....how could i argue with that, i didn't even make a montly payment...hehe....
