My 02 WRX with only 18 psi boost runs 12.7@108mph in the 1/4 mile.

The STi runs just 14.5 psi boost. That is a low boost level for the STi's low compression ratio. If the past proves true, Subaru will leave plenty of room for increasing the boost. The VF39 Turbo on the STi will easily pump out 18+ psi boost. I can only imagine how much hp an STi setup to run 18 psi boost will be making. 350-400hp?

You can't go wrong with either car. The EVO is a great platform for mods. It does everything very well. But for my tastes which is driving back and forth to work every day an STi fits the bill. It will make a great daily driver and weekend drag racer. Thats just me. You need to make your own decision based on your needs. If I was into circuit racing (very risky with a daily driver), I would probably get an EVO. But my car is going to be for the real world, driving back and forth to work.

By the way I expect my 04 STi within the next 2 weeks. Just think how lucky you are to be having such a difficult choice. A choice that will make you happy no matter what you decide.
the evo doesnt run 19psi of boost more like it spikes to 19 and settles around 16, also i belive your wrx is lighter

I have a deposit on an STi and I'm going through the same decision as you. Up until both cars actually came out I was thinking the STi b/c of the power difference and DCCD and 6speed.

Now that they are both out, and I've had a chance to drive the Evo, I'm sold on the Mitsubishi. Seats are great, the shifter felt great, the boost is addictive and I really like the looks better. It's got more room in the back and it doesn't have a huge hood scoop. I will remove the wing first thing, so I can have more of a stealth machine with the Evo. The only thing STi has on paper is more power, but that didn't seem to set them too far apart in the magazine tests, so I think in the real world it will come down to the driver.

Plus, like someone else said, the Evo is cheaper. I say get the Evo, but as most people have said you really can't make a bad choice.

not to mention the awd system, enkei wheel / yokos, recaros and brembos at all four corners...

Since you won't race or modify the cars. Here ya go. Why to get the EVO:
- sunroof
- more room in backseat
- better seats
- stereo
- won all mag comparo's
- And every mag has said that the EVO is easier to drive at the limit.
- $2000+ in pocket (if you got my deal it would be the plus)
- better looks IMO

Anyways, one of the sales people that i am friends with knows people down in LA where he live. He is good friends with a few dealers and one just happens to be a mitsu dealer. And yes.. i can EXACTLY what i just said... 200 over invoice.. so if i get the spoiler/sunroof...invoice is about 26500 or a few more... so 200 OVER that... im not paying 31,000 + for the car just cause i want the carb fiber spoiler/sunroof. So i would appreciate if you stfu jimmyv... k thnxs bye.

As far as hooking anyone else up.. i will see what i can do and post further on the forum, just remember... it helps to know people, it REALLY does.
As I said in my first post, if you did get it, Congrats. That is the best deal I have heard of that doesn't sound like complete ****e.

Without your explaination of the inside track, it does sound like BS. Hearing the rest of the story in your last post makes this sound more believable. As amazing as the deal is, did you have to wear knee pads?

I'll also say thanks. You motivated me to renegotiate my deal and I am getting a below MSRP deal from a different dealer. I am picking it up on Monday.

Bottom line-congrats if you got it(hearing the whole story makes me think you did) & thanks for motivating me to get a better deal.

Mr.STFU
