Evo's Trade in/Resale Value [MERGED]

I tend to think that most modded cars have probably been ridden hard (after all, what's the point in modding if you're not going to try for a couple of 1/4 mile tests or taking it to the track?) I would much rather buy a stock car that checks out okay rather than one that had a ton of mods on it. Who knows if the mods shortened the lifespan on the car?

reason you cant sell your car...your asking too much for it. I got my 05 for 29.5 otd. Why would someone buy a used 03 for 26?????
Also, part out your car. Youl prolly get somewhere in the area of 50% of your mod money back assuming the parts are in good condition. Also, your customers are concerned the car is beat to crap and wont last long...do anything you can to calm their fear. Let them drive the car, tell them how you modded it but (hopefully) didnt beat the crap out of it. Most importantly, be forthcoming and dont lie.
If the dealers haven't got rid of their surplus VIII stock by the time the IX is launched they will probably discount quite heavily just to get them off the lot. If people are buying at invoice now, it shouldn't be too difficult to get $1000 or more below invoice. As a consequence, the price of used VIIIs will inevitably take a hit when the new model comes out (same with virtually all cars). I'd return it to stock, drop your price a little and try to get rid of it within the next couple of months.
got rid of my 04 rs with 13k...a buschur turbo back and intake and cf hood and trunk and evodave heads and tails.......sold for 24k.........i was happy with that....try that price range

Since I was in the market for a used evo at one point (couldn't afford insurance in the end) I can tell you that no one will want to pay more than 24k for it. And thats assuming it wasnt beat up. I'm pretty sure all prospective buyers want some sort of proof you didint bust anything... let them test drive it and/or peek under the hood and i'm sure you'll sell it eventually.
KBB will probably be adjusted soon. Dealers out here are starting to drop their prices on used Evo's with low miles. I've seen a couple in the $21,000 to $23,000 range with low miles and mild mods.
The bubble has to burst sooner or later.

I see three problems:
1. Price is too high. KBB is a guide, not a bible. You will need to price it right for your location and current market conditions.
2. Lightning Yellow Paint. It is a love it or hate it color. Take this into consideration when pricing the car.
3. Modifications. The perception of most people is that the car has been abused. Bring the car back to stock, sell it, then sell the parts online.
Good Luck.

i dunno, ive seen 03 evos, used w/ around the same milage as mine(15k), for sale for about the price im asking 26k if not more. carmax had one on there. im hoping to get around that, considering i have many upgrades over the stock ones sold at the dealership. i may come down some in price but not much. i feel its worth every penny. i thought about returning it to stock and then selling it, but im not interested in wasting time and $$ in doing that.
I would say about 95% or morw of the used evo's on the market were moded. THe one ting nice about buying one that is moded you at least know whats done to the car. Nothings been covered up thats at leat how i feel.
Yeah the resale of EVO sucks. A ten year old supra turbo is worth more. This is the only reason mine is still here and will remain. I put a lot of highway mileage. My thought is that if you spent 30K minus well drive it since resale value gonna be crap anyway.
Some people look for cars with mods and some don't. You save $$$$$ by having a car that already have what you want.
