Evo's Trade in/Resale Value [MERGED]
Might have to Sell the Beast :(
I recently hit reality and figured that paying each month for a car is not the way to go either buy it in whole or not at all is going to be my modo from now on. I get about 2 grand a month with my current job but after taxes its only about 1700-1800 I get commission but its bs. Anyways I just figured I am paying for this car and Im wasting all my money. I owe some people some cash not to much but its making this hard. I love the car to death. Im young to have this car but I can afford it. its just taking all my money away. I dono what to do. My cars a 2006 Evo IX about 3 months old GG KBB says 28000 for a 2005 in excelent condition. What do you guys think... How much could I get for it. here are some pictures. Car has 3000 miles on it and is in perfect condition is lowered with Ksport coilovers. Has a apexi n1 exhaust with custom 3inch piping.

why didn't you think about such problems before you bought it? It only has 3k miles on it...it obviously hasn't been that long since the purchase.
Making 30k a year and buying 30K+ car that is expensive to run and maintain is a bad decision - anyone could have warned you of that before your purchase.

Sell the car private party and wash yourself of this loan before you have it repoed.
You should be able to get 27k or so...I'd personally sell the coilovers and maybe try to trade for some stock wheels...it will help your resale.
This thread should be permanently listed at the top of the threads for those young, inexperienced buyers with relatively low income as a warning. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that you weren't thinking when you purchased the evo knowing you could barely afford it, but I think its a good thing to learn and something that we've been trying to say on this board to the lesser income earning people here for quite some time now. Goodluck with the sale, you should still be in excellent shape afterwards.
Sorry to hear that you need to sell it, there is nothing more frustarting that wanting a dream car and not being able to afford it.
You made the right decision, you can not have a car that is draining half of your paycheck or more(car payment+insurance+gas+registration).
My suggestion is that you go and get something more affordable for now like a 97-99 GSX or a 94' and up VR4, you would still be very fast and you would still have a nice ride and definately you would have more money.
I don't want to feed the fire anymore but a $30000 car purchase when you are making $30000 a year should have been solved already.
Good luck!!
Carlos
