In most cases modifcations lower a vehicles value.

Obviously a dealer doesn't care how much you have invested and in most cases it is difficult to sell a modified car to a private party unless you happen to have a lot of what they are looking for. In the end this is why most people part there cars out, then sell them.

Just my 2 cents.

Are you on crack? I bought a 05' in Nov. for 23.7k...search autotrader 05's all over the place for 25-26k.

Are you looking to sell it or just curious?

I think we live fairly close (if you look in the spotted in Ohio thread) so I want to see this car before you sell it if you are planning on it!!!

Yeah, I did take a quick look at the "spotted" thread. I think maybe that was you. I can't remember what time it was though.

I am not actively seeking to sell my car. I just wanted to see what effects of having almost zero stock parts and all aftermarket would have on a potential buyer. I do want to sell eventually. (2007 GT-R in mind)

But, for the right $$$ I am always willing to sell.

Your in a tough situation

Many dealer will give you lees for you car if you don't have the stock parts.

But the mods you do have are decent. I suggest pulling as much Info on the mods, like dynos and benifits (???). That way you are armed with several reasons they should give you what your looking for the car.

If it's modded, I'd try to sell private rather then go through the dealer, they are not going to give you anywhere near what the mods are worth. Private, you have a much beter chance of getting something a little closer to a sane price.

I sold my 97 GSX not real long ago. Had just about EVERYTHING done to it. If I went to a dealer as a trade in, I seriously doubt I would have got as much as I did for my car.

Sold it myself, and got a good buck for her. Still not as much as I put in, but something I was happy with and let me buy my Evo.

did you trade your 03/04 for an 05 or 06?

If so, how much did the dealer give you for the trade in value of the car and how many miles were on the car at that time of the appraisal? I am trying to get base figures on how much the dealerships screw us by to see if trading my car is worth it.

Try kbb.com or edmunds.com. Of course it isn't worth it.

I got $23,000 for my '03 with 28,000. Which is just OK. Although I did only pay $20,000 for it a month earlier. Score!!!

Trade-in value's alone don't really tell you much. You have to also consider the price of the car you are buying and the financing terms and any extra stuff you bought like dealer accessories or extended warranties. They can give you a fair trade-in and stick it to you in any of these other areas as well.

those are some impressive trade-in-value numbers 8- ) Hopefully I end up getting a fair trade after my appraisal. By the way, when I take my car in for an appraisal will it affect the trade in value dramatically if I leave the aftermarket parts on just for the appraisal. Because I dont want to start taking everything off yet until they tell me how much they can give me for a trade in, then I will begin to take the parts off to trade back in..

Your Post

The Resale Value on EVO's are very good. Mainly due to its popularity and availability. You must realize though dealers will only give you wholesale for any vehicle for they sell it for resale value. So if the car Blue books for 28G's they will probably give you like 24-25G's so they can make some money on it. Don't get mad, its just business. Like always its better to sell your car yourself. I traded in my VIII in jan 04 after one year of ownership and I got 28G's on trade. I took it since I needed to keep costs down. Now I went and bought a IX, paid 34G's out the door, so even though I can afford the car now more so then I did when I got my VIII the VIII was a better deal. So if you are thinking of "ugradeing" to a IX, I wouldn't, for the overall cost of the new one, vs. your loss on the VIII would not be worth it. Just my opinion coming from a guy who owned both. Hope this helps you......
