You can have mine if you give me that S351R

Will the resale value of the Evo skyrocket because of Tokyo Drift?

^^^^^ I dunno but I just have this feeling inside that this will happen so I dunno maybe you guys should buy some Evos and then resell them later..

Before The Fast and the Furious came out, you could easliy get a Toyota Supra for about 18 grand, but then after it came out, prices skyrocketted to the mid 30's and low 40's!!!

...God I hope not, because then that would symobolize that people who saw the movie just bought one to try and "drift" in them. The population of good 4G63 evo's will diminish, and the riced out or destroyed evo population would skyrocket. I'll take a lower resale value to save such great cars from the hands of idiots.

Unlikely. You can still go to the dealer's a buy a new or used Evo. They haven't made Supras in a while, thus the scarcity.

I think Evos will always hold decent value as they did not make too many of them and they are stopping soon

As with the 2002 WRX it never really lost any value after the 3rd year

nope, but the 350's should be selling like hotcakes, but I think the F&F car trend is slowing down.

Only Evos with the APR widebody kit and Ricetastic stickers will go up in value.

I don't know what the movie cost but it only made 25 million for opening weekend. I doubt it will make anywhere near 100 so my bet is this will be the last Fast and Furious movie in the franchise. They won't keep making movies that cost more to make than what they gross.

Also, the evo VII was in the second movie and that didn't jack up prices of the VIII's. If it did half of us would have never owned an evo to begin with.

Just my two cents.

You have to consider how much a film earns globally, not just in the US market.

I think it will make a good amount of cash. This movie turned out better then the first 2, but still reminds of a Charlie's Angels approach to reality.

I think the Evo will retain a good resale value because of what it is and its capabilities. The movie will only help Mitsu get more recognition.

I have never seen a good condition twin turbo Supra go for $18k (Maybe the non-turbo models?), even before the F&F....They have always been 30-40k range, I saw a few high mileage ones in the mid to high 20's but thats about it for the low...I looked to buying one quite a few years ago, but waaaay outta my price range at that time....

Plus I dont think that movie will have any pull on the auto market. Its just an action movie? With riced out cars and rappers trying to be actors...Havent seen it yet, but no desire too and even if I would my car would be the furthest thing from the theater, I dont want little teenie boppers going thats the car from the movie derrrrrr. The saying yooooo man do you drift that thing??? Which at that point I would hand his friend 20 bucks to punch him in the face because if i did I would go to jail....haha

And if you convert to RWD, oh man, value DOUBLES!!

Seriously though, if resale value goes up because of this movie, its not going to bother me.

<grin> When I brought my RS home from the dealer, the 13 year old kid who lives across the street ran over saying, "That's the car from the Fast and the Furious." I was embarrassed.
