Sputtering @ WOT

Recently I went on a road trip, and my car was running fine the entire time. On the way back, I had to stop to get gas, and the station only had 87 octane. Given that my light was almost on and there was no other gas station for another 50+ miles, I decided to fill up like 2.5 gallons to get me to the next stop. I stayed off boost and drove the car easily unit I made it to the next station and filled up with 93.

Stayed off boost until I was like 10 min. from my house and when I hit WOT for the first time, my car started sputtering. And this entire week, every time I hit WOT, the car sputters. I have like 1/4 tank left of that mixed gas, still.

My question is whether you guys think that this mixed gas is what is causing me to sputter or do I have other issues? I haven't changed my plugs in a while, but I found it too coincidental for it to start happening when I mixed gas. Given that I am tuned, is my car extra sensitive to anything other than 93? Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post.

your car is already sensitive to 87. the gas is gonna make you mis fire pretty bad. if its still sputtering after all that gas is gone you should look into the plugs, plug wiring, coils ext.

run that gas out or preferably syphon it out to prevent any risks of det unless you have a way to log your car and see. then fill it up with 93 and check your plugs. i would also go ahead and do a boost leak test while your at it.

it could very well be a combonation of the 87 and maybe it was a bad batch of 87 at that.

First step is to fill up on 93 to get the rest of the 87 out.

Ran the last tank empty and filled with more 93. Still sputtering. Gonna try plugs now. With the power that I am making, should I run a step colder or am I fine with stock plugs?

I've always wondered how the car would act if I let my fiancé put 87 in it....she will be reading this in the morning. Maybe now she'll understand why 93 is very important.

While I'm waiting for my plugs to come in, I pulled my current ones. What do you guys think?

what are they gapped at and when did you change them last? from the pics it looks like i could park my car in that gap.

i gap mine around .022 and it looks like its almost touching compared to yours but it may just be the pic.

Two of them were .022, one was .021, and the other .018.

I changed them probably back in 08 or 09.

Alright I changed the plugs and it still is sputtering. What is the next step? I need to drive the car a decent distance today, so this is kind of urgent.
