ssqv issues......

Just swapped out the upper intercooler piping, and it was previously flanged with a ssqv. i cant get anything out of it, just surge, ive read they can sound like surges at lower boost, but at 18lbs or so im still surging like crazy. the car had a greddy type rz that work awesome, didnt stall or have an abnormal idle after a pull. ive read tons and tons of threads but they have been fairly indecisive. the sound of an ssqv is unmistakable, and mine is farrr from that..

Was your valve new or used? Mine is quite old and im about to swap it out. It has become dirty over the years and likes to hang up a bit from time to time. A quick clean helped out a bit, but I just want to try something different.

It is used, lightly from what i understand, and also ill throw out there it has a direct vacuum line from the intake mani, not T'ed off somewhere. im about to pull it off there and tear it apart, i dont think i have much of an option. its a newer style valve, the limited edition black one, theres no pressure adjustment on it which i found strange

My Evo had one on it when I got it, wouldn't stop surging. Any low boost or gradual increase in boost, it wouldn't hold it. Also, wouldn't hold anything over 20psi without surging.

Got rid of the POS and got a Tial 50mm and have never looked back, lol. Threw the Silver spring in my Tial and haven't had an issue in 2 years now.

When I bought my evo it had the ssqv on it and had almost identical issues as yourself. I just switched it out with a new upper pipe and stock 9 bov and now the car is perfect.

give yourself a break, sell it for the first offer you get and get a evo 9 bov.
