Got Overboost???
Got Overboost???
I thought I would share this with you as I got a laugh. I was throwing an overboost code P0234 about a year ago. After tracing it down to the faulty wastegate, I decided to wait it out until I put in my new turbo and wastegate... a little over a year and a half of not being able to got WOT it was time for the swap! I know what you're saying, what an idiot he should have just swapped the wastegate, and I told my self that every time I wanted to get on the throttle and couldn't, what an idiot.

There it is, a huge crack in the housing, kinda looks like its smiling at you. Reminds me of a cartoon character.

I think that he is saying he got an overboost code a year and a half ago, and waited to go WOT so he didn't get the code again.
^^^ Exactly. I got the code over a year ago and never did anything about it. If I would go WOT it would hit fuel cut off so fast so I have had to baby around the throttle to not hit overboost. Just wanted to show what ignoring a problem can end up doing. Yeah it was a stock wastegate w/ 100k+ miles. I have heard these are prone to failure, and here is proof.
Yeah it just seems like an odd crack. Ive noticed all the internal wastegates are prone to failure. FP, Forge and Oem. I'm actually in the market to buy a new WGA. The shop I go to just says go with a stock IX WGA. Although if you have an 9.8 or 10.5 Evo 8 turbo, that wont work.

The crack grew more and more the longer I drove it that way, seems almost like it was a seam that split but that part is all one piece. An upgrade is a must for any high mileage turbo in my opinion.
