EvoVIII from norway

Hey guys

I've just purchased an evo viii -04 model. Odometer is 105000.
I was aware that it was a slight drivetrain noise before i was buying it. So I got it cheaper than normal.
It's most noticeable on 1st an 2nd gear, but I can hear it slightly in all gears.
Is it the tc? When the car is standing still, idling, and with clutch out, I also hear it. When I depress clutch the sound is gone.
And when i drive it fast for sharp corners I also get a rumbling noise from the front. Driving slowly on bumpy road i hear som clunking from the front end.
What can I expect guys?
I get a little bit of missfiring after shifting gears with full acceleration. Maybe it's the plugs.
The car has 3.5 turboback exhaust and open kn filter. No other mods.

That's several problems.

The one that is gone when you depress the clutch is most likely the throw out bearing. It will need to be replaced, may be a good idea to change the clutch and pressure plate while you are at it.

The driving slowly on a bumpy road thing, I think is common to all evo's. There are a lot of theories, but I don't think anyone has narrowed it down exactly. Some say it is the strut mounts, the front sway bar, all kinds of things. Get it looked at in an alignment place to be sure.

Rumbling noise in front may be the tyres rubbing, or the wheel bearings, or even the tyres themselves making noise. What tyres are you using? What's the rim and tyre set up?

Misfire after shifting gears may be the wrong plug. I would put new ones to factory spec, if all you have is the air filter and turboback.

Goodluck!

Ok, thanks. It's 'evo' tyres on the car. Haven't looked at them so carefully.

If I later have to replace the tc, can I use a tc from lancershop in the USA?

Or is it not the same like on my european vehicle? Someone who knows some place in europe to purchase a tc for a reasonable price?

The tc from lancershop in USA cost only 25% of what it costs here from the dealer in norway!

So if I understand correct, when I put on the new tc, I also get a new front diff?

If you need the transfer case just send it to shep trans. for a rebuild. The cases are shimmed wrong from the factory. And he will upgrade some of the things on the case that need it.

Don't worry about the TC for now man. Fix the problems you have first. And the ones you do have don't sound too serious, just some maintenance.

If it is making the noise with clutch out but stops when you press it to the floor it's more likely the input shaft bearing as the tob would do the opposite.

Yes, but use OEM not ebay. Still just 1/3 of the price after shipping and tax compared to buying them her..
