New intercooler

I'm ordering an AMS front mount and hard pipe kit and was wondering if I'll need to get my car re-tuned when I put it on...at first I thought so but then really all the intercooler does is cool the engine, has nothing to do with the computer or fuel...so I figured it wouldn't need to get re tuned. Thoughts please

To make the most of it yes you'll want to have it re-tuned.

To get the most out of it yes, of course get it tuned. However, when i put my ETS intercooler/ nisei LICP on it was logged before and after dyno results with no tuning i gained ~22whp with the upgrade. (slightly cooler ambient temp however) but same dyno, same tune, everything the same other than maybe a 8* ambient temp difference. If you plan on doing a bunch of other mods in the near future, you can wait and get it tuned later, but the intercooler will allow you to run more aggressive timing and boost so you will definitely gain more power (much more consistent power might I add) after a tune with this mod.

I would get tuned right after installing these parts if I planned to drive it aggressively either in track or auto-x.

let's put it this way, you should HOPE you have to get retuned.. some people can gain some power from this mod some really don't, hopefully it will make enough difference to where you have to.. but guessing on here is no way to tell, you'll have to log it and see what it's doing or just plan to get the tune touched up anyways

A tune will benefit you no matter what. Something increasing airflow like an upgraded FMIC is obviously going to need some fuel to match it.

The best thing to do is to plan your tunes around the parts you get, maybe knock out several parts at a time that work with each other (ie fuel pump, injectors, intake manifold) so you don't have to get re-tuned after every single part.

Yea I got the tune with the intake, fuel pump and turbo back so next is bigger intercooler cams and injectors...I'll just wait to put it on until the cams and injectors are bought
