There's a bad ground somewhere you got to look. Sounds like

 

i would take off the turbo timer and the alarm and see what happens.

 

I know this is an old post but I was wondering if you found the problem.. I am having the same problem and can not find the culprit.. starting to bug the living hell out of me!?!?!

 

For me it was the factory harness connecting the MAP sensor. I replaced it with a aerospace grade unit and haven't had the problem since.

 

 

It’s 2024 and i see i wasn’t the only one with the headache i myself also have an Evo and I’m having the same problem the car was just randomly driving fine and out of nowhere it just shut off for me and it would not want to turn back on and I am still dealing with it. Now I even went to the extent of getting another tune and my tuner has done all he could to get the car to turn back on in idle he maxed all the maps out as far as idling and gas and nothing. The car just turns on and falls immediately on its face fuel pumps, prime injectors, prime everything turns on the car is currently on a AEMV2 replaced crank sensor cam sensor new iac has upgraded coils. The car is currently running on E 85 has two 450 pumps car has good compression and I have literally done almost everything that everybody in here has said lol the car cranks strong but once again it just falls flat on its face it is frustrating. I don’t know what else to do next. Hopefully some people are still active on this page and give me some more knowledge the car is not stock thanks in advance car will turn on at times, but once I hit the gas, it just sounds like a bad misfire like the car wants to go, but it sounds more of an electrical problem from what I have knowledge of what I’ve learned. I feel like it’s something electrical.

 

Are you running a COP? Have you verified that coil harness is good? I had an issue similar to this with a failed COP harness. Replaced the harness and it was all good again.

 

Man this thread brings back memories. I subscribed to it because my problems were similar and i just got an email that the thread had been updated lol. My car would randomly die and sometimes crank but not start or start but run like crap. I went over every part of the fuel system and wiring, i wasnt COP at the time but i still went over all the ignition stuff. I ended up parking the car for a month and when i went back to it i decided to just flash in my old MAF tune since i was Speed density. I still had my MAF installed so it was a simple flash and the car fired right up and ran perfect. Turns out i had a bad Omni 4 bar MAP sensor. Turns out it was kind of a common issue on the Omni sensors. So if anyone is having drivability issues on Speed density, maybe try running the car on MAF and see if the issue is still there.

 

Oh nice to see people are on here still lol and yes i have the COP jdc to be exact the guy that’s was tunning it maxed everything out and still wouldn’t want to stay on it just stumbles and dies out new aem 3.5 bar sensor old one was bad and still nothing grounds r good cables r good also men throwing money at this with no solution in sight is frustrating

I just started checking here again as i'm finally starting to track my Evo with the 2.2 stroker i built almost 15 years ago lol. Anyways, have you tried pulling a spark plug and attaching the coil to it and just resting the spark plug on the valve cover or a ground and then crank the engine and make sure you solid spark. Next i'd try and in line fuel pressure gauge to make sure i you have consistent fuel pressure, if you've got all that and compression than it's got to be in the tune or a bad sensor. I'd still try MAF if there's anyway you can, just transfer over your injector settings and try and start it.

 

I tried it and nothing even plugged old set up back in and nothing took my battery to get tested and nothing the car randomly started today lasted longer then usual maybe like 5 seconds and then boom fell on its face again

 

Do you have a thermal or heat camera? You can see bad grounds heating up, and then maybe they cool down enough to start working again. You can also use jumper cables as extra temporary ground cables. If it doesn't sound like it's something that's on a timer like from an alarm system than make sure your power and ground wires to things are good. Add an extra ground for the ECM or fuel pump, wiggle test pins on stuff,

*edit. It might be time to start doing weird things like make a jumper wire for the fuel pump and run it straight off the battery. Eliminate computer control of it. Sometimes when doing weird things like that you find out that the power wire going to the fuel pump is all corroded or the pin is a little loose.
