Evo values rose again (KBB)
True. You can always buy one cheaper here (Midwest) and ship it there for like $800 probably. Don't know how much cheaper they really are though. I seen some on west coast for over $30 which is crazy.
Does anyone think prices will go down this summer? I really want to buy one but paying 15k for one with 100k miles is just a terrible deal. Does anyone think there is a chance of buying one for around 10-12k in running condition? lol
Yes, if you have auction access and want to spend time and money fixing things/dont mind salvage titles/find someone desperate and dont mind spending time and money fixing things

I bought a non running Evo IX for 10k and it "appeared" to be a good deal since it was an SE and lets just say there was a lot more wrong with it then it looked.
You run the risk of buying someones crap MORESO at that price point. If you add another 5k you will increase your chances of finding a well maintained one (but probably still over 75k miles, mine had 75k on the body).
I'm sure you can find a cheap one running for that price but it will have high miles and have issues for sure.

Chasis is a 2003 with 148K. I bought it in 07 with 66, and have maintain it myself from the beginning. Same OEM drivetrain, and never been rebuild. I blew the stock motor back in August last year, and have since rebuilt it to a 2.3. The build went very well, used quality/well known parts or OEM only. The entire motor was done, head refresh, and built block. It now has 1800 miles on it, 2 autox, and 1 track day...so I know its running well and right. Power is 408hp/391tq at 25psi on the HKS 7460. During the rebuild, I also replaced suspension bushings, and actually replaced 75 percent of the rear controls arms to refresh all of the ball joint, etc. THe car has Advan wheels, and Ohlin Flags. Interior is not shabby for an 03, and has seats from a low mileage 2005 model.
Of course, for an 03 with that many miles, no one will expect it to be aesthetically perfect, but the car is not a POS either. I'm highly curious what people would be willing to pay for my car as is. I'd be willing to remove the aftermarket wheels and Ohlins is someone wanted to lower the price. I just don't know what is the right price. The other factor is most people are skeptical of vehicles with rebuild motors, which is why I have autox and tracked the car....to make sure it runs well, and right. Curious to hear what everyone's opinion is on what a good asking price may be if I were to see it.

Yeah Its interesting how I got an 03 Evo 8 with 42K miles for 15k in 2009. Then someone hit me and totalled the car with 82k miles a few months ago and the insurance company paid out 14.5k. Definately seem to be retaining good value, maybe because a lot of them are getting totalled so they are harder to find.

That's true so do you think I should wait longer? I was hoping to get one this summer but an evo is something I always wanted so it would be nice to get a running one. I just hate how kbb is going the wrong way, at least for me haha.
These cars don't even run at auctions lol. Your wasting your time trying to find one there or having a dealer trying to find one there. Your best bet is to save more, and save some more, until you get enough $ to buy one.
The values aren't going to go down. Why would they? The cars are getting harder to find unless you want someone elses turd. What other car can compare to the EVO that's priced lower? STI's even go for more in most cases.

And trust me if an EVO runs at the auction that means the dealer that took it in didn't want it. The only reason they wouldn't want it is because they had their mechanic inspect it and deemed it was a POS not worth fixing so they sell it off and now its someone elses problem.
If a dealer gets a good evo in they sell it retail on their lot.
