Lightbulb Looking for undercoating - Upstate NY

Over the summer I'm considering getting my evo undercoated + winter wheels/tires.

I have an 03, 64k miles, no rust. And I'd like to keep it as rust free as possible.

Does anyone know of a place I can have the underside of the car coated to protect from winter elements? + price?

The car has never been driven in the winter but next winter may be the time.

Any advice / shop info would be a big help. Thanks!

They make some real good stuff in a can that you can do yourself. Whenever my car is on a lift, I'm always looking for that dreaded rust. I check every season, Lol! I went to my local parts store and bought an 18 ounce can (aprox. $14.00) and that does the trick! Try to access a lift, make sure that your undercarriage is clean and dry and spray away! Most have temperature guidlines, so read the directions carefully. Good luck!

I was thinking something more along the lines of a truck bed liner type of spray coating.

I'm looking to prevent rust from appearing all together considering there currently isn't any.

I understand... Bedliner material though can add a lot of weight to a car like ours...Undercoating material can last many years. I added mine when I got my car new from the dealership (in 2005. Car is a 2006) and last summer was the first time I did a respray and that's because I added a roll cage and had to do some drilling through the under carriage.

Damn, well I'd love to do this myself but I just feel it'd be hard to be consistent with the spray cans. I feel it would be better coming out of a spray gun.

I feel like this isn't something people do too often but I'd really like to protect the underside of the car.

Just lay down couple coats of por15.
Prep with a wire wheel and wash thoughly. You can apply with a brush or spray gun.

I've used POR15 and Rust Bullet a lot over the years on Jeeps. Rust Bullet Automotive gets my vote. It can be brushed or sprayed. Don't get either Por-15 or RB on your skin!

I consider undercoating sound deadening not a rust preventative. Also, bead liner is going to be heavy and possibly plug some of the body drains.

Make sure the protective coatings on the car's bottom are intact and maybe use one of the marine oils if you want more protection. This stuff will attract dirt but the car won't rust if the coating is renewed every year or two.

Also make sure the drains are open, particularly the drains in the doors and wash the bottom of the car when the streets are dry after a snow storm.
