Trying to find a DIY

I hope i'm posting the in the right section.

I've searched and searched! Where can I find a DIY for a JDM Evolution 9 MR tail light mod/conversion. I have an extra set of Chrome specials that I wouldn't mind "converting". They were given to me, so i'm not losing much. My only issue is what kind of black in on the housing? Is it gloss or a flat-ish black? Everyone for some reason loves the 7 lights, but because everyone likes them I just dont like them as much. Very few people rock the 9 MR lights. from all the pictures ive seen, i cant tell.

Just looking for a what kind of black. thats all. I dont even need a full DIY. any help will be greatly appreciated. i'm leaning towards a semi-gloss.

Thanks!

buy Depo lights and put a bit of extra sealant around them

the 8 MR lights are flat black

the 9 MR lights are the glossy black/chrome housing just like the US 9 lights

personally i'm a fan of the 9's, but it all comes down to looks. whatever you do, don't do the opposite if you paint your headlights or buy new ones . i.e. if you get jdm headlights make them match the tails, or if you have the housings painted make them match the tails

paint it gloss aye! the fronts are gloss black. the owner before me totally messed up the headlights. leaked EVERYWHERE! yellow'd, oxidized like a son of a biscuit. but hey its my fault for not looking more carefully, and its whatever.

If your looking for a diy just use the headlight diy. Same thing just with tail lights. Pre heat oven to 225 put wet rag over clear lens leave in for ten minutes pry apart repeat heating if necessary. Do not scrape any silicone off and be careful not to get it on the lens. When your done press pieces back together, put back in oven for ten minutes remove and finish pressing together. done.

That won't quite work on the taillights, they are expoxied together not siliconed.

i'm following the DIY guide on here to take the lights a part. i will then throw in some silicone in there for an extra layer. hoping they dont leak.
