Leaking tranny fluid from passenger side axle HELP

I am in need of some answers or ideas. I replaced passenger axle and the seal that goes into the tcase. Because i dont have tranny dipstick, i just poured fluid in until it overflowed out. I was on an incline so it did take on more fluid than it should have(most likely). Does our cars "purge" the excess fluid that might be causing this leak!? Thanks

Most likely you damaged/cut the seal. When you pull the axle again to replace the seal, check the end of the axle for any sharp edges but mostly be careful when inserting the axle. Use some lube. I've done the same thing.

Just did this to mine. Took two seals to get it right.

i pull and install axles all the time.. and i have no clue how you can damage a seal.... i do know that ii over filled my trans once and it seeped from the axle for a few days after but it did so on the driver side... the passenger is a long way to travel... find a flat surface... open the trans fill port and let the excess, if any, drain out... install the plug... wipe everything down and give it a day or two... if you still have a leak pull it and replace it..

just check

You should check to make sure you fully seated the axle before you do anything else. The axle should snap/lock into place, if not it will develpoe a medium sized leak.

+1 what brand axles are you using? Some aftermarket ones are too short and will cause the axle seal to not seat correctly.

Hmm, possibly the wrong axle.

I've seen a brand new OEM seal on an OEM axle leak. The seal fits loosely. What my mech did is use some gasket shellac around the outer part. That was about two years ago and no leaks since.

I always use some RTV on the outside of the seals as added protection. Just make sure everything is clean when and if you do.
