turbo timer vs auto timer

Dumb question, but what is technically the difference between these two? I ordered a Greddy auto timer for my evo 8 and wanted to make sure its still compatible.

I looked around on the web and didn't find anything, any help is much appreciated. Thanks!!!

As far as i know an auto turbo timer automatically calculates how long the car should run before turning off, i believe. They can also be set to a static time.

all it does is calculate based on how hard/long you've driven the timer will go up/down accordingly. Realistically just set it where you want it and it'll be fine.

I used to be a turbo timer user. Most modern turbos don't need it. Its just cool to tell someone you know your car is on when they try to stop you. lol

Well my car has to idle about 1 to 2 mins before I could turn it off. Otherwise it hesitates to start. So an auto timer is good for me.

in order for the auto feature to work you have to tap into the speed sensor wire on the back of your cluster. thats how it was set up on my HKS timer. i only used it for start up purposes. go outside start the car, pull the key and let it warm while i get ready for work.

Exactly how I used mine prior to ripping it off. Previous owner had a Viper alarm with turbo timer option. Just hit the button prior to turning the car off and it will run for the allotted time. I got mad street cred at the meets though.
