New user, Methanol question

I recently bought a 03 evo 8 and it has some small mod. Intake, exhaust, etc.. it also has methanol injection and im not really looking to race or anything so my question is, can i just remove the system and call it good? or is there more to it than that?

Thanks.

I would leave it on there and run denatured alcohol . The pump will last longer and it will add octane and cool the mixture.
If you end up taking it off you will need a retune as the methanol is another fuel source.
Most people tune to 12.0/11.5 and then add meth to bring it down to 11.0/11.5. So if it was done properly it would be 12.0/11.5+ and lean without the meth which is to lean imo for pump gas.

Denatured Alcohol is about $13/gal at my nearest Lowes. Local gas bar has 100% Methanol 5Gal tub for about $25. I mix 50/50 Meth with distilled water so my injections go a long way. 93octane is only so good. Have you driven the car with it on and feel the power difference?

I've driven it with it on and off and couldn't tell much of a difference but the gauges the owner before me had hooked up didn't work so I'm thinking the meth wasn't hooked up properly.

Oh. So you are not sure if it was working or not? On my car Meth adds about 100 HP so yeah I could definitely feel it. :}

If it's not hooked up then it's an easy removal. You won't have to touch the ECU/tune.

I am on the East side of Bham (Springville/Odenville) and I could help. Not this weekend but I should have some free time the next. Let me know if you want me to remove it for you.

Has the level in the tank gone down, after some boosting? If not, then the kit might not even be working, as is the case sometimes, especially when the car is sold off. (gauges, wires, fuses, etc get removed and essentially deem the kit inoperable). If you disconnect a power wire, yourself, and the AFR changes on the wideband gauge, then the kit was working and the car is likely "in need" of the injection, as per the tune. I see no reason to remove the kit, if it is working. Just add 50/50 mix or even 30-70 meth-water (blue -20deg washer fluid).
