new evo owner

I recently bought a 06 evo from a local nj dealer. I know the car has had work done to it ie. intake, exhaust, bov, boost gauge...etc. I was wondering if there was a shop I could take it to that will look through the car so I know what exactly was done to the car? I also need to figure out what's tripping the cel so I can get it inspected...and how to pass with no cat...

You bought a car from a DEALER with no cat and a CEL? Maybe thats legal in Jersey, but you should have walked. I hope he didnt tell you you get a warranty. Anyway good luck and welcome.

Go to a local pepboys autozone etc and let them do a CEL Check for you, after that research carefully on the available EVO Tuners in your area taking into consideration other customers reviews of them.

I lost my previous 03 evo a few years back due to an addition to my family so when I saw the 06 in the lot... well I guess I didn't really do too much thinking. Kind of an emotional buy. I didn't realize the previous owner did a tbe until a few weeks after. As for the cel...it went on and off for a few weeks so I didn't think it was gonna be too big of a deal. It hasn't gone off for over a month now. thinking a trip to pep boys is in order and then off to the shop. Thinking IVEY or Nightshift. Anyone know what they would charge to look the car over?

There is about Tach Motor works which just opened an NJ location in Edision if I am correct. But dude you should of checked engine light before buying. I hope it is nothing serious except like false cat error.

Go there^ I normally don't go to shops but those guys are great. If you need a stock cat to pass inspection I can let you borrow mine to pass emissions.

thanks to everyone for the input and thanks so much for the offer to borrow your stock cat. I'll let you know if that was the problem as soon as I get it to the shop.
