Clunk noise when turning
Hi,
I'm new to evos and to this forum.
I have an evo8mr and recently at heavy traffic stop light, I stalled my car and panic with the traffic behind me waiting, I stupidly accelerated too much on 1st gear turning right and the outcome now is I hear clunking noise on the rear when I turned right from 1st gear on normal take off. My exedy cluth is new and can smell it after the incident.
I read here that the noise could be coming from the:
ayc
cv shaft/joint
wheel bearing
check cv couplers
axle
clutch
require fluids change
The noise is only heard on 1st gear with acceleration but I dont hear the noise on straight or left turns.
HELP!
Thanks

Thanks golgo13.
My springs are slightly lowered with stock suspension.
The noise is a slow tick, tick and gets faster when I put more power from 1st gear turning right.
Tick...... tick..... tick... tick.. tick. tick. tick.
I'm more worried that I broke something on the AYC rear diff.

Have a friend sit in the back of the car with a stethoscope and try to localize the sound while driving.
Once you know where it's coming from, you can probably start looking in that area. If it's not coming from the center of the car, it might be a wheel bearing or a brake rotor heatshield or who knows?
