BTW, I'll be at the event on Saturday with my car exactly the same as last weekend. Good luck distinguishing my car from a stock Evo with an exhaust. In terms of engines mods, Kents car had a more rudimentary engine management system (SAFC and MBC, saved $400 bucks over the Xede) and lacked a 10.5 exhuast housing (saved $245) on his turbo. Nothing on the itty bitty Streets of Willow can even make me pass gas after riding shotgun with Mueller on the 'Big Track' at Willowsprings.

Maybe next time Vishnu should hire Michael Schumaker to drive against a 6-month-new, provisional licensed rookie. I'd hate to see what would happen if Jordan's Evo had a 10.5 turbine and something better than an AFC and MBC for tuning. I mean, Vishnu Stage 1++ must be way better than an AFC and MBC and then there's the "Signature" series just like Costco has Kirkland Signature!! Woohooo!! But you know what they say "the best mod you can ever make is modding the driver". Guess you already tried that one though.

See ya this weekend. It should be a really cool event.

As Shiver me Timbers would say,

Cheers

I'm driving out with I.E. in the morning. My wife will driving my "radical" car to SOW later on in the morning. I'm just spectating on this one.

Hey Turbrodude, I'm not sure what your point is? Are you saying that my car is super fast but Vishnu's driver Paul Gerrard sucks? Or are you saying that my car is weak but Paul G. did a great job getting it within .2 of Kent? Once again, what is the difference in power capabilities between my stock evo turbo (Evo6.5) and any 2005 Evo? Maybe you need to ask around about the time differences on a track between unshaved 255 RA1s and 275 Hoosier racing slicks. In the end, that mod made the biggest difference. Had I had Hoosiers mounted on appropriate wheels, Paul would have been over a full second faster. Anyone disputing that fact needs to do some idependent research.

I actually have only met Kent twice. He is a very stand up guy (even bought me dinner) who just drives his butt off and seems to stay out of the fray. Also, it is appropriate and legitimate to call him an amateur, but folks shouldn't get too carried away with with his newbie status.

Five months ago, at EOC event #2, Kent ran SOW without the bowl in 1:12.7 when his car was even less moddified. Robi won on that very hot day with a 1:12.2 in his car with a Buschur Stage 5 - big turbo and lots of Aero. Now, a little later in the summer, SCC did their ultimate street car challenge. Robi won the road course section (same track) with a 1:11.8. Paul, with his EOC time from June, would have taken second by a good margin with his 1:12.7 with only one month of experience and a lightly modified evo. Just kind of chew on that. He would have beat the Supra, the Skyline, and the hobbled Sparco Evo....

My point is that Kent's Muellerized Evo is badass. If you watch Kent's driving carefully, you will wonder how he turns those fast times. In some places on the track, you'll wonder what the heck he is doing there; wonder why he seems to have missed the apex by 5 feet; wonder why you saw brake lights in a place where you shouldn't even consider the brakes. Then you'll realize that if an experienced driver was wheeling the car, it could probably go another 3 seconds a lap faster. Then you can sit back and wonder why people pay the big bucks to Vishnu, while the RRE built Evo is so much faster with the most basic of mods. Other than the roll cage (which counteracts all the weight savings done by stripping the car), everything is simple, cheap RRE stuff with Mueller's suspension tuning. I guess being in the 4G63 business and dealing with 1G eclipses (basically same suspension as evo) for over 10 years pays off.

Make one wonder why all that money went into the other 2 RRE buckets that Kent also beat that make's Kent's and Smog's are pale in comparison and why Mitsu doesn't approach RRE with offers they do with Vishnu. If they're so great why aren't they running in the 25hr enduro this weekend representing Mitsu?

....that was....nev'r mind
Anyway, I believe we should just be grateful that there are great tuners working hard on our cars. In the end, we realize that each have their own specializations, and are different in many ways....

It's also great to see the EVO competing more in races like the 25 hrs. of Thunderhill....cool! Also, in the recent Time Attack at Buttonwillow, it was great to see the Cyber Evo wax the Skylines' a**. Great! Same driver, no less!!
(we already know that the Evo kicks *** in drag racing, so...)

I agree completely. It would be really cool to have a dedicated track car.

Wow, you know a lot about Kent, have taken hot laps with John M. at Willow Springs, and seem to be an expert driver the way you talk about Kents shortcomings. Who are you? You are obviously not really a "newbie."

Then you can sit back and wonder why people pay the big bucks to Vishnu, while the RRE built Evo is so much faster with the most basic of mods.
You mean like 275 Hoosiers, brake kit, a completely gutted interior, and fully customized suspension now qualify as "The most basic of mods?"

Turbrodude,
I have never degraded any of RRE's work and expertise. They installed my clutch and my cams, sold me my rear sway bar, BOV, and have given me solid good advice whenever needed. In fact, I was waiting for an appointment for John M. to help set up my Ohlins. He emailed me back saying he was swampped and might not get to my car for a while. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and my neighbor assembled and installed my struts and Big-O Tires did my allignment.

I guess you feel some special need degrade Vishnu. Whatever. Go ahead if it makes you feel better.

I don't have the time, as I am focused on working for Mitsubishi developing their suspensions for their new models.

We have important deadlines to meet within the next week, I apologize for not being able to conduct a track test on prototype suspension systems and run an endurance race at 2 tracks 500 miles apart on the same day.

It's not racing, but it's great that you've been commissioned to do concept work for Mitsu.

Time. So little of. I guess it's fair to say it's the lack of which is also why Vishnu won't be competing at this weekends Tuner Shootout.
