what is the difference fo power ground versus sensor earth? I noticed the PWR GROUND is descrived as ground while the Sensor ground is descrived as having 0V current. is that not the same?

I am thinking that I should ground my wires to either 46 / 58 / 75 pins which are PWR GROUND (GROUND) correct?

Power ground wire carries electrical current thus there is a voltage drop across conductor resistance. The voltage drop depends on the wire gauge, length and amount of current. Wideband O2 sensor requires about 1A heater of current. When you measure the analog outputs you need a clean reference ground without a voltage drop so typically there is non current caring sensor ground.
In a low voltage, high current automotive world there is basically no clean ground. This is whey all sensors have their own clean ground wires connected back to the ECU.

black is ground. I grounded my zt2 with the ecu grounds. Lets not make it rocket science.

Exactly, it's not a "rocket surgery". Ground the Zt-2 black wire right at the ECU ground. Done. This is why we keep the Zt-2 harness wires short.

Evo 8 - 9 have different ECU's and plugs/pinouts.

can someone help me translate the EVO X pinouts for the corresponding 5 wires to tap? For some reason, I am having trouble distinguishing the verbage on the X wiring... ie: TPS main, TPS sub, etc.. In addition, I dont see sensor EARTH nor TACHOMETER....

http://roadraceengineering.com/evox/...-ecuwiring.htm

So far, this is what I have come up with:

red: Pin 82 Power supply
Black: Pin 81 ECM Ground
Gray: Pin 10 Throttle Position Sensor (Main)
Green: ???
Brown: ??? maybe PIN 93? ECM Ground...

Please someone verify and/or clarify.

Greatly appreciated!

Well I am going to bring this thread back I am going to be installing a ZT2 with the 3.5bar Map. I really dont want to have any taps on my Ecu. Since I am really just using the ZT2 to log boost and a/f through Evoscan do I need to hook up the TPS or RPM wires? Also can I splice my 12v power and ground out of the radio or cigarette lighter? That would just leave me with the sensor ground that needs to be tapped into the ecu or is their an alternative for that one? Any help would be appreciated.

All Zt-2 inputs are independent. You do not need to connect TPS or RPM wires to read AFR or boost. You do not need sensor ground. MAP grounds at a clean Zt-2 ground brown wire.

So going by what TTP wrote:

ECU taps are:
Red: 12v ECU (this one I can tap into the radio)
Black: Ground (same as above)
Gray: TPS (dont need for my application)
Green: RPM tach (again not needed)
Brown #1: Sensor ground at ECU **now is this one needed?**

Okay basically the only one I am confused about is the Brown #1: Sensor ground. I technically dont need that to just log boost and the air fuel ratio? Is the purpose of that wire just to have an extra ground?

Newest instructions do not require brown to be grounded. Red, Black, Gray (tps) and Green (tach).

As long as you keep the black ground wire short and preferably grounded at the ECU ground so the Zt-2 has the same ground reference as the sensors (TPS, RPM).
One brown wire is for Zt-2 MAP ground, second one for standalone EMS with differential wideband input. It does not look like you are running a standalone.

Well since I most likely wont be hooking up the rpm or tps (evoscan already logs that) I can have my power and ground wherever correct. There is a very good spot behind the radio to ground to the chassis. For power I was just going to splice into my radio. Does that sound like a good alternative?
