Hm, is that really flat black on the heatshield? It looks so shiny! hahah... I'm guessing the manifold gets too hot to use the same stuff you used on the IC pipe. Did they have the engine temp paint in glass black? I'd like both the pipe and the heat shield to be the same color, if possible.

very nice, never noticed the Mg symbol with it covered up. Hope the heat shield paint doesn't peel. My valve cover is starting to peel.

Yeah, I grinded it to bare metal with a wire wheel on a drill, then applied three coats about 10 minutes apart.

Nope.

There is no way teh IC pipe is ever going to get hot enough to boil off. Seeing 500+ degree surface temps is pretty unlikely on that location.

As far as the heatshield goes, I just replaced the bolts holding the heatshield to the mani with SS Allen head bolts and washers which look very nice. The only problem is the fact that one of the bolts sheared off in the mani Now I have a little hole

Still has held up perfect and looks great. Im planning on getting my Manifold ported and ceramic coated soon, so hopefully I can keep this heatshield looking purty even during a track day.

Updated pic with SS bolts: Sorry they are hard to see...

a few pics of my freshly waxed hood

Took about 20 minutes and a nice vice. Very easy to do. I had a wire wheel laying around that I got at sears for like $1.50

You can get them at any hardware/tool place, cheap.

That plastic is the wire harness that usually sits on top of the valvecover on some clips. I removed all the brackets and clips so that I could finagle it down there pretty securely on its own. I simply ziptied the throttle cable to the harness and then used the little "lift hook" attached to the motor to secure it down behind the valve cover. THere is a single bolt on the littlle hook that allows you to loosen it, and then put the harness behind it, then turn it down and tighten it, securingly it in a little recess between the intake manifold and the head.

Very easy
