.As for the original question proposed by the maker of this thread, I personally like body mods, but nothing too much. In terms of power, I am still getting used to the evo's power coming from a crappy 8 year old neon. I won't be doing any engine mods for at least 6 months. The only thing I have in mind is probably a flash.

Damn.......I'm 27 in New Mexico.......and i'm barely affording my Evo 8 and the insurance on it. But back to the question at hand, some bodykits can help as with some wheels that are lighter than stock. For example a Evo 8 stock rim with the tire might be 24 LBS (I hope not), but then again you have an 18 inch wheel/tire that has the same weight. Which one do you choose? Now as far as bodykits are concerned, i like the voltex bodykit that Gruppe-s sells. It kinda sucked that i had to buy a JDM Evo 9 bumper for the CF undertray to be used but different people have different taste.

i dont think any mod that will hinder the performance of your car is worth it. i totally agree with this:

Body mods are worthless unless they are in some way ENHANCING the performance of the car.. No point in a carbon fiber hood that weighs the same as stock or more.. Or wheels that slow the car down because their heavier.. Or a body kit that has no aerodynamic value..
Focus on performance, add functional body mods.. Race cars look like race cars for a reason.. And its not for looks.

I'm a racer. Not a pimp, not a baller, not a ricer . . . a racer. So my $$$$$ is on performance. Everything I do to my car is in the name of making it more fun to drive. Which scenario would you rather be in:
#1 - you have it custom painted, lowered, rolling on 18s or 19s, JDM bumpers and Euro badges, blacked out this and that with a carbon fiber everything and a color matched custom interior with a playstation and xbox hooked up to your in-dash dvd player with subs that will crush your skull. You pick up your girlfriend and she says, "Damn, that's a hot car. Nice!"
#2 - you have a 500hp sleeper that looks like a stock EVO from the outside. Some coilovers, sway bars, wider wheels and tires for better handling. It can corner so hard that girlfriend falls over into your lap if she's not wearing her seatbelt. You pick up your girlfriend and she says, "Oh, nice EVO. Show me what it can do."
#2 pulls up next to #1 at a stoplight. They roll down their window and give eachother a nod.
#1 thinks "Ha, look at that stock POS. I'll show him what I got"
# 2 thinks "Wow, that thing looks fast. Should I go for it?"
They give eachother a friendly rev and #1 thinks "Hmmm. . . That car sounds different than mine." The light turns green and #2 destroys #1. #1's girlfriend slaps him and yells at him for racing and for getting embarassed. #2's girlfriend says "Damn, you wasted that fool. You're so awesome. I'm gonna give you something extra special tonight". #1's ego is toast, #2's ego is boosted.
Now it is up you each of you to decide. Who do you want to be. I've already made up my mind. See you at the red light.
