the amount of misinformation in this thread by some guys is just insane.

to all the people who told the guy to just add more power instead of taking off weight, learn what you are talking about or don't post. taking weight off the car is a great way to not only make the car faster but also to stop and turn better. just the stopping distance and response is a good reason to do what he did so the added benefit of faster time is a just a bonus.

to all the people that told him that he is stupid for doing this to his daily driver, a few questions:

are you paying for his car?
do you drive it every day?
do you sleep with him at night?
is it your car?

if you answered no to any of the above questions than you really should not give the guy a hard time for doing what he did.

Not to mention your seats and carpet = around 10 pounds.
My GSR will smoke your RS with just a re-flash and still not look like a piece of s h i t...
But hey, to each his own, its still sad....
OMG, do you even think before you post???

seats and carpet= 10lbs?!?!?!??! where the hell did you come up with that?!?!? EACH seat in the evo is around 35lbs and the carpet by itself is more than 10lbs.

also, i am willing to bet that his evo will lap alot faster than yours around the track and the braking difference will be great. and yes, your car will smoke his car in a staright line but not all of us care about that. some people actually bought the evo for its amazing handling you know

don't worry about losing too much weight if you;re planning to drag race....it's easier to make more power than lose weight. If you're planning to autocross then I weight savings would be more profitable, and then a nice suspension tune and engine tune, etc....

and also THANK YOU blonde for coming on here and explaining what ive been yelling at my computer for while reading all these idiots telling him hes stupid and its retarded to do so. This is a very easy way to help improve all the other aspects of a car than the hp rating...

that's awesome! and +1 for blonde... too many people on here act like they own people's cars and yell and degrade others for doing anything to their cars they dislike. it's pathetic.

Looks really good, once I have a second car I might consider doing the same thing to my lowly lancer for rally purposes.

Mad props, I would absolutley rock this RS. The SSL package is the only thing keeping me from stripping my evo, I figure I'd have to get an aluminum roof for it to even matter and yeah that'd be too much hassle so I'll just enjoy the extra bit of sun while I smoke fools and wait till I can afford another car and then strip that. I'd rock the dual evo dd and track **** combo like it was my job...

undrcroft-

How friggin stupid are you ? I saw this thread link to another thread ( which will remain namless). It was linked there so we could all laugh our ***'s off at you at how you think sheading weight gives you more HP.

TAKING WEIGHT OFF YOUR CAR DOES NOT GIVE YOUR CAR MORE HORSE POWER!!!!!! How does taking weight away from the car have any effect on the engine getting more power??

So your saying that when you park your car and get out of it that your car now has more Horsepower then it did when you were sitting in it? Go to a Dyno and run your car get your HP reading and then run your car again w/ a bunch of stuff ripped out of it, your still going to get the same HP reading as before. The weight of the car has NOTHING!!!!!!! to do w/ how much HP you have. The weight of the car does effect on how fast you can get the car moving.

The general rule of thumb is that 100LBS of weight is worth a tenth in the quarter mile. So you have taken out 200LBS, well you have shaved off two tenths from your 1/4 time, you have NOT!! added anymore horsepower by doing so. All it does is change your power to weight ratio. If you were able to run a 14.5 at the track you are now down to a 14.3, thats is all you have actually accomplished besides making your car look like total friggin crap.

if you do the math, so far i've taken off 200lbs. Thats 20HP....FOR FREE!

1. Yeah weight does make a diffrence.

2. Removing 10LBS of weight will not give your car more Horse power, please explain to me how removing a seat will give the engine more power? BTW its spelled HORSE POWER

3. Every bit does add up when it comes to removing weight.

You did not gain 20 HP for free. I'll give you all my credit car #'s and all the money in my bank account if you go to a dyno and actually pull higherr HP #'s just b/c you took a bunch of weight out of the car.

You sir are the true defination of RICER!!!

CBR 600 RR -- are you a troll?

Don't take things quite so literally. Of course removing weight doesn't give you horsepower. He was giving you an equivalency.
