Where do you mount your Radar detector?
And yes, the radar detector still works even behind the 20% window tint. Unless you have a solid vinyl banner or "mirror" tint like Lumar Cyber Tint, you shouldn't have any problems with this.
Escort Solo 2....Well worth the money. You don't have to worry about cords or anything. The unit seems to be DAMN sensitive, too. It will sound off when a cop is running radar like forever away but stay calm around department stores, banks, and such.

I mounted my detector in the bottom left corner of the windsheild. It's much louder there (was too quiet before) since it can echo out of the corner. Plus, it's much more noticeable as it's in more of a direct line of site versus the middle of the windsheild.
I didn't have to cut anything to install in, just ran the wire under the dash, and up the left corner! Very clean and removeable!
