thanks for poster all the hardships you have had. i wish i could drop as much money in to my car like you do but some day i can. but i learn a lot from the things you have had happen with your car. i know the stm or br 272 cams will be great for your evo 8 head.

Also did you get on ttd?

These cars are sure money pits for sure but I love the hobby and will continue to do it. Racing and cars get frustrating but u just have to keep on going ya know. I won't stop till I have that 8 sec pass lol. Hopefully it will come real soon! Car has had some ups and downs and right now is a good time to Swap heads and get the break up issue fixed. It wa a bummer it was Breaking up at the shootout but it happens. The good news is that there is still a lot more weeks left of the season. So I'm looking forward to getting out there real soon! The STM 650s will be great for my car, excited to see the new power level!. I will have results real soon!!

No matter your issues, this "junk box" is still an inspiration in what I'm trying to accomplish!

Hey Joey, so why is it that the MIVEC might be causing the issues?

What rims are those that you were running early in this thread with the drag radials?

well now you've got me a little bumbed. I plan on running my HTA3794 on full tilt. I'd hate to think that my brand new CNC'd built GSC head is going to be holding me back. This is the problem with building a car. You almost always find something that you could have done better after its done. I almost wish I wasn't following your car, haha. Srsly though, I hope its not gonna hold me back from maxing out my turbo or keep me from going 8's.

Mivec isn't the issue, floating valves from weak/old valve springs is.

His tuner believes a EVO 8 head is simpler and therefore easier to make power with.

It is personal preference, not neccesarily fact.

Great power can be made with a Mivec head so for everyone freaking out, don't haha

Hey Matt, Mivec is not causing the break up issue. It is valve springs causing valve float. I figured since I have to change the valve springs anyway, might as well do the 8 head and new cams now ya know.

I gone through a few set a wheels. I had gun metal rota torques with the BFG drag radials. Then I had the Volks Ce28n gold with polished lip with the BFG drag radials. Now I have the CCW classics with the Nitto 555R drag radials. CCWs were on Hoosier QTPs at the end of last season before I switched to the slipstreams 15" M/T ET Drags

Dont get me wrong man. Mivec is still awesome, I mean I ran 9.1 with It with multiple 9 sec runs. I can squeeze more power out of the mivec head after I fix the valves issues. But since I have the head apart I figured I would do the swap now. Mivec is known to make great power, but a lot of the higher horsepower 4G63 are with the Evo 8 head. Don't be bummer man, your car will still male plenty of power with that setup and well enough to run 8s

Exactly right man, mivec still makes great power and already has gone 8s. 8.99 is the mivec record I believe and I would be going after it but since I need to take apart the head to fix this break up issue, I might as well do the 8 head now. Im looking forward to the difference it will make. Car makes plenty of power and now will be even more. Now it's a matter of getting the car to hook and go from There. I will have updates soon for everyone! Stay tuned!

Good point!

Evosick2332, is the Evo 8 head going to stop you're breaking up issue? I thought you initial problem so that and not so much power.

Switching to the Evo 8 head is not the reason for fixing my break up issue. My valve springs is what's causing my break up since they are over 2 years old. It is causing valve float is what we narrowed it down to. So I figured, since I need to pull the head anyway to fix the problem might as well do the 8 head now with new springs retainers and valves with the new cams.

i wonder if thats becoming my issue. when i drop boost though the car cleans up. wouldnt valve float only be RPM based and not boost? 8krpm is the same 8k rpm in a 1500hp car that it is in a 500hp car no????
