k I had a buddy recently that was having break up issues like you and it ended up being his stock ecu... something about loosing crank signal or something. I'm sure the COP will take care of it. Good luck man I love the junk box!!!!! lol

Now that u mention it, I had that in the back of my mind also that there could be a issue with EMS. Over the winter i sent it out to get checked over and what not. Came back all good to go. I hope its not the EMS. I honestly just think its the ignition. Ill put the other one on for the shootout and hopes that clears it up And thanks man, I appreciate it. Hopefully will have some good updates Sunday night

The car looks straight mean muggin with these wheels and tire combo Thanks man, ill shoot you over a PM soon!

Got back from the Shop today @ Boostin with Devin. Turned out i had a very loose bolt in my wastegate. We did a boost leak test and it was crazy leaking through the wastegate. At first we thought the top of the wastegate was bad and leaking. But found the loose bolt and was good to go. I must have been running like that for awhile which explains some of the lower traps speeds and boost fallin.

We fixed the wastegate and that was the only boost leak on the car. Put fresh plugs in the car, drained the catch can, put the other spark tech ignition on the car, and gave the Junk box a bath Car is ready to rip and cant wait to leave tomorrow. Ill be heading out with some people around 10ish. See everyone soon!

Hey Everyone,

Im back from Ohio, i got in real late this morning. First off i must say this was a awesome year for the shootout. This was my second year in a row and this year was a great turnout The people who i met there that i know on the forums it was nice to meet you. I wish i had more time to walk around and meet everyone but it was hard from getting the car ready.

The car had some issues all day yesterday. It was was breaking up real bad in 3rd and 4th gear which was resulting me in letting out pretty much on every run. I did qualify to get in but got knocked out because I had to let off on top end. I cut a 1.4 60ft and had to let out but that would have been a great run. I managed a 9.6@153 with a 1.6 60ft spinning. Car had hesitations in that run as well, but stayed in it and turned out to be a decent run. Now im back and need to figure out what the issue is so i can make some full passes.

I believe i am going to ditch the MIVEC and go to a Evo 8 head with some different cams. I was talking to Emery @ STM yesterday, and i belive i am going to go with the STM 650 cams if i can get a set But first i am going to tackle what the problem is then go from there.

Even though car wasnt running 100 Percent i still had a great time and it was great to see everyones car again in person. I cant wait till next year. I say we have one every month haha Stay tuned for some more updates with the Junk Box.

Had some pics taken of my car from someone, so i thought i would share

No prob man it was great time! On the new ignition i leave the gap the way the come out of the box. I believe there around .020 and i of course check them when i pull them out.

I have tried the stock ignition, my old spark tech ignition, and now the sequential. The 9.6 run the car ran pretty good. It had a few hiccups during the run and hesitations but i stayed in it and it ran decent. There is still issues and the car not running 100 percent which we will figure it out asap.

The pics are great, too bad i didnt get my own. Vids will be up soon
Evo 8 head fully ported/polished with the STM 650 cams coming soon!

what spark plugs you using? mine ''bpr8es'' are gapped .028+ out the box every time.

i normally run a .024 gap. but whats odd is when i have break up issues i drop to .020 and still have issues. i do not think its gap related because even at a lower boost it sometimes does it.

Dan is good to meet you yesterday man. Congrats on your 10.1 pass Since I have MIVEC, the plugs that are in the car are the NGK Iridium racing plugs. There number is the R7437-9. I have to go look on the box for the otehr model number.

There really expensive for a box. There the 2 step colder ones. Since im making the switch to the Evo 8 head, im def going to like the fact that i dont have to spend 150 bucks for a set of spark plugs

yes it was great meeting you. i saw you drive by me and i waited until i saw you waiting in the pics. i figured that was the best time to chat because i didnt want to bother anyone while they where running around or working on there car. and thanks man.

i forgot it was a evo9. my bad. yea that sucks. 150 for plugs is nuts. how does the iridium plug work VS a ngk copper plug? does it produce stronger spark or is it just the iridium's last longer?

cant wait to see the new head/cam combo at the track.

I'm curious as to the choice in the evo 8 head... How do you think the Mivec is holding you back?

Yea same here man, everyone was busy working on there cars and stuff and i didnt want to bother them and distract them. Yea its still a mivec car so these plugs are ridiculous with price. They last actually a long time, just depending on how you drive the car ya know. I have never tried the NGK copper plug. Iridium last a little longer and are 1 more step colder.

Im excited to see the difference in the 8 head and new cams. Im planning on having everything back together in a couple weeks. Im anxious to get back out there already lol Ill keep everyone updated!

I never said the MIVEC is holding me back or anything. It just from research and my tuner saying that Evo 8 head flows better and theres no Mivec to mess around with it i agree with that. I dont mind mivec at all, but seeing how everyone is on the 8 head and flows better i think its time to make the switch. I made 777 on the mustang dyno on 40PSI with the car the way it sits. I know there is a little more room to go but with more agressive cams and the 8 head i know there is a lot of more HP going to be made.

I will be on a 8 head with the same as this one. Supertech Dual Springs, 1mm over size valves, port and polish job and the STM 650 cams(if i can get a set) then its back on the Dyno and track. Ill keep everyone updated on whats going on. Ill be gone this week for business for work till Friday. When i get back thats when it all starts

Wow, evo 8 head? Didn't know they flowed more air. Has this been proven? Got a link to a thread or is this another one of those shop secrets that finally came out.....haha!
