PS - I'm a low post count as I am a forum ***** on the "other forum", but I do fall into your generation, and I have made it a life long goal from this day forward to do a few things in my day to day.
1 - poke anyone wearing glasses without lenses directly in the eye with a screwdriver and then point out they are stupid.
2 - light all skinny jeans on fire
3 - put a crease in ever flat brimmed hat I can find
4 - poop in the fuel tank of any stanced car I find

I try not to let it get to me. I like this forum and check it regularly so I don't want to be known as some d-bag. I'm always open for discussion and I'll be the first to admit that most of the people on here know a lot more about Evos than I do, I'm just using mine for completely different reasons.
You said you're only notching 1/2" out, and that 1/2" isn't important. Really? I mean... it's not like there's no load at the top of the suspension.
Unlike most of what people do, you're talking about a permanent degradation of the structure of the front of the car; something which can't be easily undone. I generally don't care if people want to "ruin" their personal car, but this is really pushing the limits of what's rational.

Prybar, scraper, punch, hook, hammering with the handle, key(for people who stole cars), ect. Thus your point for not using something as it was intended has become null and void for being a hypocrite.
