Pull the ABS fuse if you really want to remove that nice piece of performance equipment...

I've considered selling my RS on multiple occasions in order to gain ABS.

you would also need the RS master cylinder (it has the proportioning valves and 4 outlets), and would need to ground the pin in the wire harness that turns on the abs light.

edit: and if you have ACD you'd need to re-route the wheel speed sensor wires.

I've converted things around on Subarus in the past and what is necessary are parts diagrams and a bit of luck. As an example, the correct part I need to increase the size of my master cylinder from a 15/16" to a 1 1/16" came from a 1994 FWD SVX; only one with the correct fitment for my non-ABS Impreza.

Master cylinders, specifically, are kind of funny since they vary from two ports to four ports, depending upon how the ABS (or lack thereof) needs the inputs. I've never looked at the Mitsubishi parts beyond the fact that there are a ton of hard brake lines that I wouldn't want to have to redo.

If you pull the fuse, wouldn't that also affect the distribution system for ABS evos?

EBD and ABS are integral systems. An RS has neither. The ACD system in the RS still works because it retains the wheel speed sensors. There will obviously be some wiring that is present in the ABS cars that must be rerouted to ensure the signals still pass to all the right locations.

I'm looking to do this for my rally/hillclimb project. Has anybody done this 'upgrade' on an ACD equipped car? Are the wheel speed sensors the only things that need to be rewired? Simple as just splicing the correct wires together? If so, can anyone tell me which ones?

I also see that there is a different MC involved that has a proportioning valve in it. If I plan to install a cockpit adjustable proportioning valve, do I still need to source an RS MC?

Thanks!

Bump for me too! Looking at either keeping the existing hardware and removing the ABS, or new pedal box, master cylinder, and in-cabin hardlines.

New pedal box is hard to fit without cutting the firewall. I was going with Wilwood floor mounted pedals in my car, and despite moving my seat back 5-6", there still wasn't enough room for the pedal box with the master cyl attached to the back side.

New plan calls to use the OEM pedals but re-work the connections. As I get more details on my setup, I'll be sure to post in my build up thread (so as not to hijack this one), and if people are interested, I can probably have the guys fab up a few sets of the parts as they fit everything into my car.
