i have the same "clunk" sound coming from my driver side front. took off my front wheel and found that i can easily move my front sway bar. there is also sign of contact between the swaybar and frame. i ordered some new endlinks so hopefully this solves the problem for me.

is it only when you shift? usually if there is a clunk when shifting its from slamming the gears from 1st to 2nd causing the rear diff to clunk...https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ht=clunk+shift but since yours is 3rd,4th, and 5th it could possibly be a suspension problem. can you give us anymore details?

You know I used to get a little "pink", sound not color, upon take off and when going from drive to reverse from time to time. Car had 104 k on it when I put the last clutch in and I replaced the tie rod endsfor giggles. MINE went away, not saying this is the end all and be all. In my particular situation I think the use of a fork to pop the tie rod ends loose in past clutch jobs had damaged the boots, grease to leak out allowing metal on metal contact upon movement of the endlink. Just what makes sense to me...

Quoted for truth.

I just did the same (yes, all 24 pages!) and there's really just a bunch of different problems under the same topic.

However I think that most of the people (and those seem to not have fixed their problem still) are describing a problem that sounds something like:

a) spring winding up and then releasing itself (clunk with a slight vibrating metal echo) - usually this one relates to front driver side while turning
b) clunk where driving on uneven pavement / speed bumps.

Yes or no?

Hi guys. I live in Romania and I have a 2007 Lancer 2.0 Intense, it looks like the US Ralliart but with 2.0, 4G63 engine and 136 HP, no turbo. I have the same clunk noise from the front suspension, on the left side and sometimes on the right side. I understand that is because of the spring. It's not in the right position, and the solution is to put some rubber tube around the spring's spire. Someone from the dealer told me about the rubber part.

well i installed the new swaybar endlinks and still have the problem. my swaybar still has lateral movement with the new endlinks installed. possibly the swaybar bushings? i dont know. i did notice alot of grease on my driver side shock though, so it looks like its time for some new shocks and struts.

Edit: readjusted the endlinks and there is no more lateral movement in the swaybar. there is still light clunking. bought some lightly used shocks from a vendor so i can replace my blown front driver side shock (were all the noise is coming from). hopefully this will fix it. ill keep this thread updated.

I was very tired and seem to have been guilty of an idiotic type-o in my above post. Had meant to say tie rod ends, not endlinks
