Does this look like a bad strut or just broken damper?

It's been making noise whenever I touch anything larger than a pea, it feels like the struts in the front don't compress anymore. I can't push them down by pushing down on the car and it feels like **** driving. I don't see anything noticeable aside from the broken foam damper piece, which is broken on both sides (front only).

How many miles on those struts? Looks like its time to make a decision? Are you ready for coilovers?

About 106k. I'd love coilovers but I have no money right now and only want to upgrade if the struts are actually gone.

Totally understand. If the struts are leaking & making noise, its likely you got your moneys worth w/those 106K miles

Maybe just a like for like OE replacement strut is all that ya need?

DId the pics show up in the post? I don't see any leakage anywhere, why I'm trying to make sure I"m not missing anything. The struts look fine to me minus the damper being broken, but I've never had suspension issues before so not sure what to look for aside from leaking.

The strut and damper are one piece. Nothing is "broken" but the strut is leaking, which usually means it has lost the nitrogen charge.

Time for new struts man..

I dunno if its coming out sideways, but the bump stop has torn apart and the dust guard has fallen to the bottom of the shaft, which makes it look like the shaft is coming out crooked. At any rate if that has failed likely the strut has blown and your hitting the bump stop....a lot.

The more I look at it, the less I'm sure what is going on lol. But it's def time for new struts, and he'll need new bumpstops too.

I had a front KYB get stiff. The shock also make a creaking noise. I called KYB and asked, "What's up with this?" The answer, "Is broke."
