Then I agree with G20. Mitsu should have to do what they need to to get me 291hp. Or they need to properly advertise the true hp numbers. Assuming mine would be one of the 5 out of 6 cars so far

I wish it was as easy as calling Mitsu corporate and getting a detailed list of what's exactly changed from previous years. None of these dealers know **** about these cars, they're just there to make some money and keep it moving. If we could find an exact list of things changed we could narrow it down.

I guess there is still a possibility Aaron happened to get 5 cars that were made on Friday. I'm not ready to tune mine yet so I'll be of no help. I actually asked RRE about this and he said he hasn't noticed this trend at all. He in fact stated that WHP can vary 10-15 for each different car.

That's his experience.

Razorlab, myself and others have witnessed 12's have the exact power stock for stock as 11's.

Keep in mind, wheel horsepower is NOT what mitsu is claiming. They are claiming crank horsepower. If there is a drivetrain update (most likely was on the MR), then power could easily be down.

I thought RRE had a dynopack? Crank horsepower measurement.

I just got done dynoing my car last night. The only upgrades are ETS intake, ETS upper/lower IC piping and a tune. Final numbers are 303whp/321wtq at 22psi. That seems to be on par with the earlier year evo's if I'm not mistaken- or is it?

My 2012 MR was 219hp at the wheels on the dyno. My 2010 MR was 224hp. Both stock. When I added a 3port and a tune, my 2012 was 260hp and the 2010 was 274hp (at the wheels).

From what I have read from this thread is some are reporting the 2012's being down in power and some are not:

I dont feel anything really contradicts so much as uncorrected to uncorrected the 12 is down 25whp stock to stock and an average of 15whp mod for mod. The cause is currently unknown which is why I am trying to track down whether its electronic, mechanical, or both.

So I wish I knew if the 2012 is first off down in power. If so then what is the reason. And if some are not down in power and some are then maybe there was a change during mid build.

I really doubt mitsu changed any hardware, if its not broken don't fix it etc.

They could've changed software easy enough but honestly I think this thread is blowing this outta proportion.

If you are going to buy a '12 evo, just buy it and this shouldn't come into your decision making. Honestly from what I have seen locally and on the boards, they are the same as the '11's.

I am not saying John is wrong but 5-6 cars is not a good enough sample size.

Just relax guys until maybe John does further investigation.

it sounds BS but i called the Mitsubishi service for my first free oil change and they told me that they were only allowed to do conventional oil change for free because that is what mitsubishi recommends.
they told me the oil service was changed for 2012s and no longer needs synthetic oil.
also confirmed the 2012s come with conventional oil!!
so im freaking out that i've been driving with that oil and i have 3k miles so far.

uhhh im calling bs. My dealer and another I buy parts form laughed when i said that. Since i had read something on here about it months ago i asked the same question. They assured me it would be synth and it stated it on my first oil change that was synth.
