Quote: BMW
Brown - 4 - Outside (GND), Black
Blue - 8 - R, Red
Red - 9 - L, Yellow

On car:
black is ground. the purple is left and blue is right.
Thats backwards, purple is right and blue/white is left (black is still ground)

----
One thing to note - the black for ground on the factory RCA cup only grounds the right channel, so if you lose the right channel on your RCA setup you lose all sound.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I just picked up an MR with Navigation. I have the hole in the center console but no audio port. I was wondering if I could simply just take a red/white rca to headphone cable, cut off the red and white connecters and just splice them into the harness? If I can what do I do with the black wire??

I just bought the Aux port from Ebay for $20, bough the RCA to headphone cable, plugged the aux port into the harness behind the dash and routed the cable through my govebox

Maybe one day I'll cut a whole for the port but I'm lazy and what I have works fine :P

Quote: If in fact you can put some type of aux cable in the back of the deck, just take it to a Circuit City or Best Buy if you can't do it yourself. You can buy several feet of aux cable for $10 at radioshack & even cheaper online. You might still have to pay for install at a dealer, so why not pay less even if you didn't have to pay the dealer, by going to CC or BB... NO DEALER!
so wierd seeing circuit city...*sigh*
