Pulled the trigger on the Depo headlights.

Have a couple questions on the ddm tuning hid kits. Do I need the mounting brackets or any other accessories they offer with the 35 watt kit? I assume these are powered by the factory wiring to the stock bulbs, and I don't have to run independent power and ground wires for the ballasts to the fuse box?

the factory HIDs have the ballast on the bottom of the housing

when i installed some HID fogs on my last evo, I had to mount a ballast box. I put it on the inside of the bumper cover

I just double sided taped them along the edge under the hood. They just plug into the stock wiring.

there is a spot on the underside of the headlights for the ballast box to fit just like the factory HIDs on both the depo and even non HID headlights.

just attach with double sided tape + zip tie just in case.

So this thread has convinced me into getting these lights. I had a few questions though?
-Are EvoX-R projectors the best for retrofitting these depos or are there better projectors out there?
-What would be the best HID for the EvoX-R projectors? And what kind of connections are necessary? I would need to specify 9006 for a plug and play connection right?
-Are there any how-to's for taking the assembly apart and putting on the new projectors?
-Why are the EvoX-R bixenon? Are there any projectors that are simply for low beams?

the evo x-r projectors are nice since they directly bolt in to these depo headlights (as well as the factory HID lights.)

people say the FX-R projectors are better but fitting those requires modding.

ballast? morimoto is good. i use the the 3five on my bike and evo. no issues.
denso is an oem factory manufacturer. that said, i dont know if you would notice a difference.

most are typically 9006 but yes, that's what you would need.

that's an odd question, why not bi-xenon? it's just a feature. you don't have to use them. all it does is activate a solenoid that drops down a shield which changes the projection beam. allows 1 single light to serve both functions.

you can use the halogen high beam if you want.

Awesome man thank you so much for your quick reply. This will be my project for next month haha, cause im broke as a boat right now. One last question for you:
-If I purchase the EvoX-R projectors then I would need D2S bulbs correct? I think thats what its saying on the website. So D2S bulbs with a 9006 connection?
-Also I know our halogen high beams are 9005. But what are the watts on that? Still 35 watts like the low beams.
-Also, do you recommend putting in 35 Watts on the EvoX-R projectors or could I go up to 55 watts?

Thanks a lot man, I think I have everything figured out up to this point.

yes, the ballast connects to the factory 9006 as input.

the ballast has AMP connectors as the output. for a DS2 bulb you will need an AMP to DS2 adapters.

i just buy everything from the retrofit source.

Guys im thinking about going with some osram cbi bulbs in a evox-r projector. But I was wondering what type of ballasts you all are using and at what wattage? Is 55 watts too much on the depo headlights and evox-r projector? Is it best to go with 35 watts?
-From looking at the retrofitsource website, I can either go denso or matsuita ballasts at 35 watts(this is oem ballasts, supposedly) or I could go with morimoto ballasts at either 35 watts or 55 watts?
-Out of these ballasts which would be the best? Im thinking the oem denso ballasts are probably the best, right? but the 55 watts morimoto probably have the most light output?

i've never compared brands of ballasts and types of bulbs so i can't answer these questions.

i run 35w morimoto ballasts. i am happy with the output and have no desire to run 55w.

i use their basic morimoto 5K bulbs. they have a few new options now so i would probably buy the xb35 bulbs now for a marginal price increase.
i'm sure the phillips and osram bulbs are better but i dont care enough to find out.

I have read the thread front to back.

I PM'd the guy on the other forum a couple times last week that is/was a vendor and is a moderator, but he's on HL hiatus ATM.

I want to do the EvoX-R projectors and understand that they are a direct fit, but I still have to disassemble the headlights, correct?

Is there a how-to thread that shows the process? I want to retrofit with proper projectors to get a good light dispersion, but would rather pay a professional to do the work to make sure it is done right.
