Depo oem style headlights

The evox-r reflector housing is much larger than the depo. Can't really photograph the difference in lens but the evox-r appears to be thicker with great magnification. I can't believe a shop charged you more than the lights cost for installation and it's not to your liking. Did you try going back there?
Anyone that is running these Depos with Evox-R and Morimoto d2s ballast, how did you fit the d2s plug into the headlight?
I drilled a hole at the bottom where the OEM ballast goes, but the headlight hardware and black plastic shroud is not allowing me to get the plug in.
I can get it in with the headlight completely disassembled. But that would be a PITA in the future if I ever needed to replace the ballast.
My last resort is to cut off the plug wiring and re-splice it together, but I would rather avoid that.

Noize gave me a few pointers during the process and I can confirm that no trimming is necessary. Evox-r and depo projector are perfect swap. The only difference, other than bi xenon, is the depo has 4 screws holding the reflector housing to the lens piece and is held in to the headlight housing by 2 separate screws. The evox-r has 4 screws holding the projector assembly together but you have to use the two bottom screws to attach to headlight housing. Not sure if this changes the geometry or alignment at all but it seems to be okay. Here is my cutoff line using a very cheap 35w 9006 hid kit. Will be installing my morimoto stuff when I get the time.

Any high heat spray paint will work.
I used duplicolor primer and duplicolor engine enamel paint.
Hardest part of the project is making sure you sand/rough-up the chrome finishes off as much as possible using 600 grit paper. The better sanding you do, the better the finish.
2 or 3 coats of primer and 4 coats of paint. Very light coats for first just to get the primer and paint to stick and progressively heavier as you go. Make sure you don't wait longer than 30 minutes after last coat of primer to apply paint.
