Is there a how-to thread that shows the process? I want to retrofit with proper projectors to get a good light dispersion, but would rather pay a professional to do the work to make sure it is done right.
Yes, there is. Essentially you back your headlights to soften the glue, cross your fingers and pry it open.

here look what I found

To install the EvoX-R housings, I dunno if you have to separate the housings.

this might be usefull

dunno

The Retrofit Source hit my card on Monday, but they still haven't shipped. They're crazy slow.
Depos disassembled and ready to go!

OK, this is completed for me.

If you guys do this, the retrofit is only $150 more for the projectors. I can't imagine just dropping in a cheap kit and using the factory bright locations, as there is a blocking piece (as these are meant to be SSS DRLs). That means the bright lights on the Depo housings through halogens will SUCK. Just retrofit. Easy as pie and better than stock SSS in my opinion.

Huge props to Ttsumbishi from EXF, who I would love to see as a vendor here when he gets set up to start working on these again (recently moved). I did all the work myself, but without his guiding hand, I never could have pulled it off.

All in all, I have quite a few hours in this, and would be faster if I had to do it again. But the great thing about this is that none of it is really stressful, and it was really fun from start to finish!

Thanks for looking and let me know if you have any questions.

Correct purchase link:

Amazon.com: Mitsubishi Lancer Driver And Passenger Side Euro Style Performance Projector Headlights: Automotive Amazon.com: Mitsubishi Lancer Driver And Passenger Side Euro Style Performance Projector Headlights: Automotive

These are the Depo Evo headlights. They are chrome inside like OEM SSS and look like this:

Left side a tiny bit wonky due to my needing to adjust the bixenon arm which was getting stuck at some points.

Cutoff is great, no high bleed through. I highly recommend doing it right with the Hella EvoX-R retrofit (easy as pie) and not using the Depo halogen projectors.

Alright so i think this will be my project for next month. But im thinking id rather put in an extra five hours and get the fx-r projectors in there. Theres only two how-to's on the fx-r projectors. But I was wondering what size fx-r projectors they put in there. I know the evox-r is a 3" but if I wanted to put the fx-r's in there, I would need the 3" with some trimming and cutting right? Or is it the 2.5" with cutting and trimming necessary. The guy hasnt pm'd me back so Im not sure.

2.5" would not make sense in the Depo housing, as it is 3", hence why the Evo X-R fits perfectly. I honestly think you're looking at heartache doing fx-r. Are they better? Definitely. Do they even remotely fit in these housings? No. You'll be able to resell the Evo X-R infinitely easier and make a great profit someday. Plug, play, go (with minor baking and tweaking).

Thank you. 4300k Morimoto D2S and 3Five ballasts; I like usable output.
I find working on cars can be tiresome, but this job wasn't too hard, and was really fun front to back.

If you need a shopping list, hit me up.

Hey guys so I just had a reputable shop install my DEPO headlights and 8k HID 9006 bulbs. However I am not too happy, is this how they are supposed to look aligned? This look nothing as clean as the guy who posted on page #4 or any of the others. Not only does it look out of alignment but also some cloud over the cutoff on the left side.

I'm not worried about the shop and not going to bash them because they regularly don't do this work and I'm sure I will have no problem taking it back for them to fix however I just want to know if I am correct or if this is how it is supposed to be? Thank you.

I would attribute that to the projectors that come with the depos, hence their affordable price. Just received my depos yesterday and my evox-r projectors are coming tomorrow. Today is baking and blacking out and tomorrow will be retrofitting and assembly. I took an led flashlight and stuck it inside the depo projector to get a rough idea on the cutoff. Absolutely terrible like your picture.

I ordered from blackflame customs. They drop ship from retrofitsource, free shipping and 10% off with "FBLIKE10" coupon code.

Although the passenger HL is a bit lower, you need HID projectors in there.

So to look like the headlights that the guy had in page 4 just throw out the hid and run the stock bulbs in the depo headlights?
